Mercury Condition Index Tool Mercury Condition Index Tool

The Mercury Condition Index Tool uses existing data of mercury concentrations in invertebrates, fish, and birds within national parks to estimate a park level Condition Index (and associated uncertainty) for mercury, based on its potential risk to fish and wildlife health. The tool employs a series of logic steps to convert provided data into standardized units, based upon both basic

Modelled functional group vegetation cover from 2016 to 2020 on the Soda Wildfire Modelled functional group vegetation cover from 2016 to 2020 on the Soda Wildfire

These rasters represent plant cover during each of the first five growing seasons after fire in the area burned in the 2015 Soda wildfire. Specifically included cover layers are annual herbaceous, perennial herbaceous, shrub, exotic annual grass, and bareground. Training data for each year was collected via grid-point intercept monitoring between April and August. Empirical Bayesian...

Demographic model inputs and code, catchment area population estimates, and counterfactual (CIU) estimates for population growth for 23 focal bird species. Demographic model inputs and code, catchment area population estimates, and counterfactual (CIU) estimates for population growth for 23 focal bird species.

Renewable energy production can kill birds, but little is known about how it affects avian populations. We assessed vulnerability of populations for 23 priority bird species killed at wind and solar facilities in California, USA.

Fishes of the Harney Basin revisited: A contemporary assessment of the distribution of fish fauna throughout the Harney Basin from 1990 to 2019 (ver. 2.0, April 2022) Fishes of the Harney Basin revisited: A contemporary assessment of the distribution of fish fauna throughout the Harney Basin from 1990 to 2019 (ver. 2.0, April 2022)

We compiled electrofishing and habitat data sampled from 1990 to 2019 in the Harney Basin by the US Geological Survey (USGS), Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the High Desert Partnership (HDP) to describe native and non-native fish distributions and their habitat associations. USGS collected eDNA data in 2019 to refine the known distributions of common carp (Cyprinus...

Okanogan Basin Pacific lamprey eDNA detections and translocations for 2012-2020 (ver. 1.1, April 2022) Okanogan Basin Pacific lamprey eDNA detections and translocations for 2012-2020 (ver. 1.1, April 2022)

Prior to the initiation of translocation efforts in 2017, Pacific lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) were last documented in the Okanogan river subbasin in 2010. It appears as if lamprey were extirpated in the Okanogan subbasin some time shortly after that. However, until 2017, monitoring and management actions for lamprey were minimal in the Okanogan subbasin. This lack of monitoring has...

Hoh Valley elk telemetry, Washington, 1978-79 Hoh Valley elk telemetry, Washington, 1978-79

Data set represents radiotelemetry location data for Roosevelt elk (Cervus elaphus roosevelti) in the Hoh Valley of Olympic National Park from 1978-1979.

Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa) telemetry and habitat use at Crane Prairie Reservoir in Oregon, USA Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa) telemetry and habitat use at Crane Prairie Reservoir in Oregon, USA

We used radio-telemetry to study late-season movement and habitat use by Oregon spotted frogs (Rana pretiosa) at Crane Prairie Reservoir in Oregon. This dataset includes individual frog location data and habitat use during each tracking event that occurred roughly weekly between September and late November of 2018.

Air and stream temperature and pressure for HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, Western Oregon, 2020 Air and stream temperature and pressure for HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, Western Oregon, 2020

This dataset includes temperature and pressure data from 26 sites in the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest in western Oregon. Stream and Air data loggers were deployed in June of 2020 and downloaded in October 2020. The HJ_Andrews_Temperature file contains temperature data (in C) by logger serial number, site, and usage for the study period. The HJ_Andrews_Pressure file contains pressure...

Spatial and temporal variability of surface and bottom summer water temperature at cool-water areas in the Pend Oreille River, Washington (ver. 3.0, April 2025) Spatial and temporal variability of surface and bottom summer water temperature at cool-water areas in the Pend Oreille River, Washington (ver. 3.0, April 2025)

The water temperature data were collected in summer 2021, 2023, and 2024. Continuously recording temperature loggers were deployed at the confluences of Indian Creek and Duncan Springs in the Pend Oreille River. Loggers were deployed near the substratum and near the surface of the water column.

Lead (Pb) in Bald and Golden Eagles from 38 United States, USA, 2010-2018 Lead (Pb) in Bald and Golden Eagles from 38 United States, USA, 2010-2018

We evaluated lead poisoning in bald and golden eagles during all seasons of the year and from states in each of the four major flyways throughout the continental USA.

Pre and post treatment (2016-2021) vegetation cover for three southwest Idaho sites treated with pre-emergent herbicides after fire Pre and post treatment (2016-2021) vegetation cover for three southwest Idaho sites treated with pre-emergent herbicides after fire

Selective herbicide application is a common restoration strategy to control exotic invaders that interfere with native plant recovery after wildfire. Whether spraying with preemergent or bioherbicides releases native plants from competition with exotics ("spray-and-release" strategy) and can make communities resistant to re-invasion by exotic annual grasses (e.g., cheatgrass, medusahead)...

Long-distance movements of non-migratory golden eagles in western North America, 2007-2017 Long-distance movements of non-migratory golden eagles in western North America, 2007-2017

We studied >500 golden eagles tracked by telemetry over a 10-year period in western North America, of which 160 engaged in non-routine, long-distance (> 300 km) movements. We identified spatial and temporal correlates of those movements at both small and large scales, and we quantified movement timing and direction. We further tested which age and sex classes of eagles were more likely...
