The Landsat archive, the world’s longest continuously acquired collection of space-based, moderate-resolution land remote sensing data, has now surpassed 7 million scenes since Landsat 1 first began collecting data in July 1972.
Over 1 million Landsat 8, over 2.3 million Landsat 7, and over 2.3 million Landsat 4-5 TM Collection 1 scenes, along with 1.3 million Landsat 1-5 MSS Pre-Collection scenes are all available for download from EarthExplorer.
This Landsat 8 image acquired on June 27, 2017, represents one of those 7 million scenes contained in the archive.
