Summit inflation resumed just after noon today and is continuing at a slow pace. The summit tiltmeter UWD recorded about 2 microradians of deflation, which may push back the onset of episode 48 fountaining depending on overnight inflation. View All Messages.

Tephra is material erupted from a volcano that travels through the air. Volcanic ash, Pele's hair, and other tephra have fallen on communities downwind during lava fountaining episodes at the summit of Kīlauea.
