Kilauea Message 2025-06-20 02:23:33 HST
Episode 26 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at approximately 1:40 AM HST, June 20, with lava fountains and flows erupting from the north vent. Fountain heights are well over 1,000 feet (300 m). Plume is over 20,000 ft (6,000 m).
Kilauea Message 2025-06-20 00:00:57 HST
Episode 26 precursory low-level activity started within Halemaʻumaʻu at 11:26 p.m. HST on June 19 when lava began overflowing from the north vent. Episode 26 fountaining is likely to begin within the next 24 hours.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-16 15:56:14 HST
Episode 26 lava fountaining will likely begin between June 18 and 20 based on current rates of summit inflation. This forecast window may change as new data come in. Fountaining could be preceded by hours to days of precursory activity.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-16 15:47:30 HST
The eruption remains paused. Summit inflation continues along with low level seismic tremor. Glow is visible overnight at the north and south vents. The average sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission rate during pauses is about 1,200 tonnes per day.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 20:31:45 HST
The eruption has paused. Episode 25 ended at 8:08 PM when fountains stopped erupting from the south vent. Tremor continued for a short while after surface activity stopped, but has now stabilized. Gradual inflationary tilt has resumed.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 20:05:39 HST
South vent fountains have greatly diminished as of 8:00 PM. Kilauea summit has stopped deflating; tilt has stabilized. Tremor levels are significantly reduced.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 19:49:01 HST
North vent stopped fountaining at 7:36 PM. South vent is still fountaining at heights of less than 330 ft (100 m).
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 18:32:23 HST
Lava fountains from both vents are erupting at sustained heights of about 330 ft (100 m), with occasional higher bursts from the north vent, as of 6:30 PM. Over 12 microradians of deflationary tilt have been recorded by summit tiltmeters.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 17:12:32 HST
HVO instruments have recorded about 10 microradians of deflationary tilt at Kilauea summit since episode 25 began. Episode 24 had 12 microradians of deflationary tilt before it stopped.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 17:07:46 HST
Lava fountains erupting from the north vent are currently about 500 ft (150 m) high. South vent fountains are currently about 250 ft (75 m) high.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 15:51:54 HST
Lava fountain heights are gradually decreasing as of 3:45 PM. Sustained fountains heights from the north vent are currently on the order of 650 feet (250 meters).
Kilauea Message 2025-06-11 13:43:53 HST
A lava fountain approximately 1,000 feet (305 meters) high continues to erupt from the north vent. A small fountain, less than 50 meters (165 feet) high, started to erupt from the south vent at around 1:30 p.m. HST.
