Kilauea Message 2025-06-30 15:22:43 HST
The ongoing Halema'uma'u eruption is paused. Summit inflation resumed after episode 27 ended. Persistent low-level seismic tremor continues. More time and data are needed before a forecast window can be made for episode 28.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 20:09:23 HST
Episode 27 ended abruptly at 7:54 P.M. HST on June 29th. Flames were visible at the south vent for a few minutes afterwards. High fountains lasted 10.9 hours and produced 6.2 million cubic meters of lava covering 80% of the crater floor.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 15:02:36 HST
Current lava fountain hazards include windblown volcanic gas emissions, volcanic glass (Pele’s hair) and other tephra (ejected volcanic rock fragements) that may impact the Kīlauea summit region of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 14:55:30 HST
Tephra is falling near V3 cam. Lava fountains continue to reach heights over 1,000 ft (305 m). Light and variable winds combined with fountain thermal effects are causing the plume to move around within the crater and south/southeast rim.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 11:40:40 HST
Lava fountains erupting from the north vent are up to 1,115 ft (340 m) in height as measured by an HVO field crew. Winds are light and variable; tephra is falling within the crater and to the S-SW.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 10:55:02 HST
Lava fountains erupting from the north vent are over 1,000 ft (305 m) in height.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 10:31:41 HST
Lava fountains from the north vent are about 1,000 ft (305 m) high. The south vent has remained inactive or minimally active so far. NE winds are blowing tephra toward the S-SW. Lava flows are covering parts of Halema'uma'u crater floor.

Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 09:39:39 HST
Lava fountains from north vent are over 650 ft (200 m) high. The eruptive plume is more than 6,500 ft (2,000 m) above ground level. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission rates during high fountaining are typically 50,000-75,000 tonnes/day.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 09:21:18 HST
Episode 27 of the ongoing Halema'uma'u eruption is underway. Sustained lava fountains began at 8:03 AM and grew slowly until 9:03 AM when height and vigor increased dramatically, summit inflation changed to deflation, and tremor incrased.
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 08:52:33 HST
Lava fountains from the north vent are currently reaching heights of about 200 feet (60 meters).
Kilauea Message 2025-06-29 08:36:28 HST
Lava fountains and flows from the north vent have increased in vigor. High fountaining has not yet begun, but could begin very soon.
