Episode 9 of the eruption of Halema'uma'u ended at 8:43 am HST, February 12. The eruption began the previous morning and lasted for about 22.5 hours. The north vent stopped erupting at 8:30 followed by the south vent at 8:43 am HST.

The north vent in the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption abruptly stopped this morning February 12 at 8:30 am HST. Fountains from the south vent continue but are greatly decreased in height.

Lava fountains up to 100 feet high continue from both the north and south vents within Halemaʻumaʻu crater this morning at 7:00 am HST February 12. Lava flows fed from the vents have traveled about a half mile across Halemaʻumaʻu floor.

160-200 feet high lava fountains continue from the north vent within Halemaʻumaʻu crater this evening at 8:15 pm HST February 11. Fountains at the south vent are 80-100 feet high. Lava flows are active in Halemaʻumaʻu.

North vent lava fountain heights in Halemaʻumaʻu increased rapidly following the onset of episode 9 at 10:16 am this morning and are reaching about 330 feet high. Increased gas emissions and potential for Pele's Hair in areas downwind.

Episode 9 of the Halema'uma'u eruption began at 10:16 am HST today, February 11. Lava is fountaining at a low level within north vent, feeding lava flows onto the crater floor.

Occasional spatter from the north vent has been visible since this morning, February 10. Inflation continues at the summit and glow intensified last night, indicating that the magma column is rising within the vent.

Episode 8 of the Halema'uma'u eruption began at 9:52 pm HST. Fountaining from the north vent rapidly increased to 50-80 feet high and is feeding a flow that is spreading rapidly on the crater floor.

Sporadic fountaining from the north vent began just around 7:15 pm HST on February 2. Spattering increased between 8:15 and 9:00 pm HST when steam obscured the vent. Inflation remains at the minimum needed for the start of a new episode.
