Kilauea Message 2025-03-31 19:35:13 HST
Constant spattering began in the north vent around 6 pm HST on March 31. Tremor increased at 4 pm HST and continues to climb at 7:30 pm HST. Spattering also probably began at 4:30 pm HST but did rise and become visible until 5:20 pm HST.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-31 18:15:19 HST
Spatter in the north vent just after 6:00 pm HST on Monday March 31. Magma is at high levels in the conduit indicating episode 16 will start soon. Episode 14 and 15 high fountain stages were preceded by 20 hours of cyclic eruptions.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-26 19:19:11 HST
Episode 15 ended at 7:10 pm HST March 26. Fountains from the south vent dropped abruptly over about 2 minutes from several hundred feet high to nothing. Episode 15 lasted just over 31 hours with high fountains over the last 9 hours.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-26 18:11:16 HST
High fountains continue at 6 pm HST from the south vent and are 500-700 feet. Maximum heights of just over 1000 ft from the south vent occurred from 11 am-12 pm today and around 1:30 pm. The new V2cam images are darkened by steam and ash.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-26 11:56:25 HST
Current airborne eruption hazards include vog (volcanic smog), Pele's hair and other small volcanic fragments from lava fountains that can fall on the ground in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and communities downwind of the eruption.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-26 11:49:28 HST
Ep. 15 continues as of 11:40 a.m. HST with voluminous lava flows and sustained fountains over 600 feet (180 meters) high. There is increased potential for exposure to airborne eruption hazards due to vigorous fountaining and weak winds.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-26 10:35:57 HST
Both the south and north vents are feeding high fountains. The south vent fountain heights are more than 500 feet high (150 meters) with the north vent fountains about half as high at 10:35 am HST.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-26 10:18:15 HST
Style of fountaining, increasing tremor, and the onset of deflation indicate episode 15 began transitioning to the high fountain phase just after 10 am HST March 26. Fountains from the south vent are currently 100-200 feet high (30-60 m)
Kilauea Message 2025-03-25 16:27:14 HST
There have been 15 cycles of dome fountaining (30-60 feet high) producing vigorous overflows and drainback from the north vent since the start of episode 15 at 12:05 pm HST. The south vent has been active sporadically during this time.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-25 13:12:20 HST
Episode 15 began with the ninth cycle at 12:04 pm HST that produced vigorous overflows into Halemaʻumaʻu crater. The intensity of activity continues to increase with the tenth and eleventh cycles that began at 12:25 and 12:47 pm HST.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-25 12:22:34 HST
The ninth cycle began at 12:04 pm HST and by 12:09 was overflowing the vent. The volume of overflows continued to increase producing flows that began spreading into Haleamaʻumaʻu. Drainback began at 12:17 pm HST terminating the flows.
Kilauea Message 2025-03-25 11:58:19 HST
The seventh and eighth cycles took place from 11:27 to 11:37 and 11:45 to 11:53 am HST. The eighth cycle had a small spillover of lava that went to the base of the north vent rampart.
