Corrected Fire Perimeters of Alaska's National Wildlife Refuges

This data package includes 481 geospatial vector polygons of historic fire perimeters associated with National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska. These polygons, originally held within the Alaska Large Fire Database (ALFD), were reviewed and found to have geospatial inaccuracies with respect to the fire they represent. They were corrected and updated based on a variety of remote sensing resources; the Mo

Data for examining thermal equilibration rates of brook trout implanted with temperature recording tags and subjected to rapid and slow temperature changes

This dataset contains records from implanted and not implanted temperature logging tags, body sizes of fish implanted with temperature logging tags, times the fish/tags were transferred from one temperature to another, and the time the temperature recorded by the tag equilibrated with ambient water conditions. Data were collected to compare thermal equilibration rate of temperature recording tags

Dataset: Sero-surveillance for avian influenza exposure in wild birds in Iceland, 2012-2017

From 2010-2018 we investigated the occurrence of avian influenza antibody in wild birds in Iceland. A total of 2453 serum samples were collected from wild birds. We tested all samples by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for evidence of previous exposure to avian influenza virus with 1302 testing positive.

Daily time series of surface water input from rainfall, rain on snow, and snowmelt for the Conterminous United States from 1990 to 2023, as well as annual series of input seasonality, precipitation seasonality, and average rainfall, rain on snow, and snow

This data release contains daily gridded data reflecting surface water input from rainfall, rain on snow (mixed), and snowmelt for the conterminous United States for water years 1990 to 2023 (1990/10/01 to 2023/09/30). This release also contains annual estimates of gridded input seasonality (an index reflecting whether surface water input occurs within a concentrated period or is equally distribut

National Volcanic Threat Layer

There are 161 active volcanoes in the U.S. and its territories. These volcanoes pose differing degrees of risk to people and infrastructure because of differences in their eruptive styles and geographic locations. This layer shows the areas near volcanic vents that could be affected by proximal volcano hazards, including ballistics (airborne rocks from explosions), pyroclastic density currents, la

Methylmercury Effects on Birds: Bibliography and Dataset for the Development of Toxicity Reference Values for Injury Assessment

This data release contains three files. The first (Table S1 Bibliography Dataset) contains the entire bibliography for the 435 publications examined for potential inclusion into at least one of the meta-analyses for the effects of environmental mercury (Hg) on birds. For those 168 publications that were included in at least one meta-analysis, the worksheet titled Bibliography contains data describ

Grass Carp Movement and Capture Data from the Sandusky River, Lake Erie, Ohio, USA from 2020 to 2022

Data includes grass carp position and sampling data from 2020 to 2022. We used grass carp that were implanted with acoustic transmitters. The position data was generated in Fathom Position from receivers that composed several VEMCO Positioning Systems (VPS). We also queried the Great Lakes Acoustic Telemetry Observation Network (GLATOS) to obtain non-VPS position detections from receivers made fro

Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Geochemical Data: Spor Mountain, Utah

The Spor Mountain study area is located in the Spor Mountain Range, approximately 42 miles northwest of Delta, Utah. Mining in the Spor Mountain district began in the 1940s and continues to present day. Fluorspar, uranium, and beryllium are the main ores mined(Ege, 2005). From August through September 2013, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) collected a total of 73 samples from abandoned m

Cyanobacteria, cyanotoxins and associated characteristics across the North Atlantic Appalachian Region

This data release contains cyanotoxin, chlorophyll-a, and pheophytin-a concentration, cyanobacterial genetics, phytoplankton community composition, and multiparameter sonde data collected from 20 sites in five northeastern United States river basins (Penobscot (ME), Santuit (MA), York (VA-WV), Salem (NJ), and Peconic (NY)). Solid Phase Adsorption Toxin Tracking (SPATT) passive samplers were deplo

Data for Infectivity of Wild-Bird Origin Influenza A Viruses in Minnesota Wetlands Across Seasons

This data set represents an ecological and laboratory-based experiment to understand influenza virus viability in surface water. Data tables included in this release consist of 1) daily mean water temperature, 2) viability of viruses maintained in water, 3) influenza detection in duck samples, 4) viral titers of experimentally inoculated water samples, and 5) water chemistry.

Hydrodynamic and Water-Temperature Model of a 21-Mile Reach of the Upper Illinois River, Illinois, 2020 – 2022

A hydrodynamic and water-quality model (CE-QUAL-W2) was developed of a 21-mile reach of the upper Illinois River including a 3-mile reach of a major tributary, the Fox River.  The CE-QUAL-W2 model is 2-dimensional in the vertical and longitudinal directions and averaged over the lateral direction.  Continuous water quality and streamgage data provided time-series data for model boundary conditions

Water Chemistry and Smallmouth Bass Biological Data from Pine Creek and West Branch Mahantango Creek, Pennsylvania, 2015-2019

Monitoring wild fish health and associated exposure effects in regions where agriculture and development have impacted rivers and streams has become a valuable research tool. Smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieu) are a sensitive, indicator species that exhibit symptoms of immunosupression and endocrine disruption in response to water quality changes and contaminant exposure.
