Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Results from dynamic cone penetration testing of soils on the Utuado Batholith, upland and dissected terrains, Puerto Rico – March 2022 Results from dynamic cone penetration testing of soils on the Utuado Batholith, upland and dissected terrains, Puerto Rico – March 2022
A Smart Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) system allows for the partially automated collection of cone penetrometer data (CPT) to determine mechanical properties of soil along a vertical profile. A smart DCP system was used to collect soil penetration-with-depth values at 16 sites along three transects on the Utuado Batholith, a late Cretaceous age granodiorite pluton located on the...
Seismic sub-bottom, sediment core and radiocarbon data collected in Ozette Lake, Washington from 2019-2021 Seismic sub-bottom, sediment core and radiocarbon data collected in Ozette Lake, Washington from 2019-2021
Seismic-reflection data and cores were collected in Ozette Lake, Washington, from 2019 to 2021. These data were used to investigate submarine landslide deposits triggered by large Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquakes. Identification of fault-related submarine hazards is a primary mission of the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program. In the US Pacific Northwest region, the greatest...
PRMS model inputs and outputs for the Upper Pipestem Creek basin (2017) PRMS model inputs and outputs for the Upper Pipestem Creek basin (2017)
This data release contains input for and outputs from hydrologic simulations of the upper Pipestem creek basin located in the Prairie Pothole region of North Dakota using the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS).These simulations were developed to provide example applications of model calibration using alternative calibration targets. These PRMS model input and output data are...
Data to support an updated range map for Plethodon shenandoah and evaluating support for multiple models of species occurrence (ver. 2.0, August 2025) Data to support an updated range map for Plethodon shenandoah and evaluating support for multiple models of species occurrence (ver. 2.0, August 2025)
The Shenanadoah Salamander (Plethodon shenandoah) is an endangered salamander found only in the mountains of Shenandoah National Park. Field surveys of the salamander were conducted from 2007-2022 using daytime cover object surveys. In order to capture the totality of P. shendandoah’s range we sampled from low to high elevation across a broad geographic range. We created a spatial...
Rasters and Tables for Selection and Survival of Greater Sage-grouse Nests and Broods in the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment of California and Nevada Rasters and Tables for Selection and Survival of Greater Sage-grouse Nests and Broods in the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment of California and Nevada
We demonstrate a quantitative approach to differentiate source and sink habitats at large spatial scales using the greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus; hereafter, sage-grouse), an indicator species for sagebrush ecosystems, as a case-study. We evaluated both selection and survival across multiple reproductive life stages (nesting, brood-rearing) in the Bi-State Distinct...
Three-Dimensional Point Cloud Data Collected with a Scanning Total Station on the Western Shoreline of the Shinnecock Nation Tribal Lands, Suffolk County, New York, 2022 Three-Dimensional Point Cloud Data Collected with a Scanning Total Station on the Western Shoreline of the Shinnecock Nation Tribal Lands, Suffolk County, New York, 2022
This data release contains about 60 million point cloud data points collected during 27 scans of a section of the western shoreline of the Shinnecock Peninsula in Suffolk County, New York. Data were collected during July and October of 2022. Data are provided as .las files with points classified as either bare earth (GROUND_SN_BRIC_BL_2022_v03.0 (2).las), vegetation (VEGETATION_SN_BRIC...
Greater Sage-Grouse Habitat Selection, Survival, Abundance, and Space-Use in the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment of California and Nevada Greater Sage-Grouse Habitat Selection, Survival, Abundance, and Space-Use in the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment of California and Nevada
Greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus; hereinafter sage-grouse) is a sagebrush obligate species and widely considered an indicator species for sagebrush ecosystems and other sagebrush-dependent species (Hanser and Knick, 2011; Prochazka and others, 2023). Sagebrush ecosystems are threatened by a wide range of disturbances and anthropogenic factors, including climate change...
Whole rock and micro-analytical geochemistry of minerals, melt inclusions, and matrix glasses from Kapoho Crater and Puʻulena Crater, Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaiʻi Whole rock and micro-analytical geochemistry of minerals, melt inclusions, and matrix glasses from Kapoho Crater and Puʻulena Crater, Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaiʻi
Kilauea volcano (Hawaii, USA) is a shield volcano that exhibits both effusive and explosive eruptive activity. Although Kilauea has been predominantly built through effusive eruptions, explosive eruptions have occurred repeatedly at both Kilauea's summit and in the volcano's lower East Rift Zone (Moore, 1992; Swanson et al., 2014). This dataset presents geochemical analyses of samples...
Floodplain Inundation Model and Inundation Depths: Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers Floodplain Inundation Model and Inundation Depths: Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers
Floodplain inundation is believed to be the dominant physical driver of an array of ecosystem patterns and processes in the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS), which comprises the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Here, we present a series of related data products supporting floodplain inundation modeling of the UMRS. First, raster files comprise a unique identifier, river mile...
Results of elemental analyses of desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) burrow spoil and undisturbed surficial soils in California, 2023 Results of elemental analyses of desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) burrow spoil and undisturbed surficial soils in California, 2023
Bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) were frequently photographed by wildlife cameras when they visited desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) burrows in the eastern San Bernardino Mountains near Palm Springs, California, USA (Mesa Windfarm). A previous study suggested that sheep may have been utilizing the excavated spoil material from burrows as a mineral lick. We aimed to test this...
