Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Code to access the Central United States Velocity Model, v1.3 Code to access the Central United States Velocity Model, v1.3
We have developed a new three-dimensional seismic velocity model of the central United States (CUSVM) that includes the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) and covers parts of Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee (Ramirez Guzman et al, 2012). The model represents a compilation of decades of crustal research consisting of seismic, aeromagnetic, and...

Evapotranspiration at the Clewiston Marsh Platform, Lake Okeechobee, Florida, June 15, 2017 - January 21, 2020 Evapotranspiration at the Clewiston Marsh Platform, Lake Okeechobee, Florida, June 15, 2017 - January 21, 2020
The dataset includes a table in comma delimited format of daily evapotranspiration (ET) from 6/15/2017 to 1/21/2020 from an ET station in wetlands along the western perimeter of Lake Okeechobee, near Clewiston, Florida. The dominant plant cover at the study site is sawgrass (Cladium jamaicense) with secondary amounts of cattails and open water surfaces such as canals for boat navigation...
Near-field remotely sensed streamflow, channel bathymetry, and floodplain topography measurements in the Arkansas River at Parkdale, CO collected March 2018 Near-field remotely sensed streamflow, channel bathymetry, and floodplain topography measurements in the Arkansas River at Parkdale, CO collected March 2018
A USGS Unoccupied Aircraft Systems (UAS) Aquatic Airshow field testing and demonstration event occurred March 20-21, 2018, on the Arkansas River at Parkdale, CO, USA. At the airshow, a group of USGS scientists and technicians gathered to test non-contact sensors for measuring stream discharge using UAS and a sensor mounted on a tag line. Scientists at the event performed a series of...
Aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric data acquired over parts of the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas and Southern New Mexico Aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric data acquired over parts of the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas and Southern New Mexico
The Trans-Pecos region of West Texas and Southern New Mexico contains a series of rare earth element (REE) enriched ~ 34-36 Ma intrusive rhyolites and syenites. One such intrusive in the Sierra Blanca Mountains, Texas, hosts the Round Top REE deposit which is one of the few REE deposits in the U.S. with an economic evaluation and is scheduled to go into production in 2025. In addition...
Benthic Communities as Mediators of Water Quality in Lower San Francisco Bay, California (2012-2019) Benthic Communities as Mediators of Water Quality in Lower San Francisco Bay, California (2012-2019)
San Francisco Bay and Estuary is largely urbanized and developed, and the southern bay is the most urbanized with many sources of nutrients, many concerns that the system might become eutrophic, and many questions about how South Bay has maintained its relatively good health. The hypotheses for why South Bay is not eutrophic, where other bays have not been so fortunate, include high...
Thin section images of xenoliths from north of the Stillwater Complex, Montana Thin section images of xenoliths from north of the Stillwater Complex, Montana
This dataset includes photographic images of thin sections made from xenolith samples collected from the Sliderock Mountain and Susie Peak plutons, Montana, along with a shapefile representing the locations of the samples. The plutons are located north of the Stillwater Complex, Montana, which is exposed along the northern side of the Beartooth Mountains in Montana. To the north of the...
Enhanced Terrain Imagery of the Scranton 30 x 60 Minute Quadrangle from Lidar-Derived Elevation Models at 3-Meter Resolution Enhanced Terrain Imagery of the Scranton 30 x 60 Minute Quadrangle from Lidar-Derived Elevation Models at 3-Meter Resolution
This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Scranton 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in Pennsylvania. It also covers part of the Delaware River Basin. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter resolution lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between...
Assessment of water-quality in the California Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta during a North Delta directed flow action: August - October 2018 Assessment of water-quality in the California Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta during a North Delta directed flow action: August - October 2018
This report documents the spatial and temporal variability of nutrients and related water quality parameters at high spatial resolution in the North Delta in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta of California, USA. The data set includes nitrate, ammonium, phosphate, dissolved organic carbon, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and chlorophyll . Data-collection...
Hydrodynamic and sediment transport data from San Pablo Bay and Grizzly Bay, California, 2020 Hydrodynamic and sediment transport data from San Pablo Bay and Grizzly Bay, California, 2020
The U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center collected hydrodynamic and sediment-transport data at shallow water sites in San Pablo Bay and Grizzly Bay, in northern San Francisco Bay between January and September 2020. The data were collected to determine hydrodynamic forcing, bed roughness, suspended-sediment concentration, and physical properties of the sediment...
Presence/Absence of Myxobolus inornatus, Aeromonas spp., and Flavobacterium spp. in Young-of-the-Year Smallmouth Bass with Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization Presence/Absence of Myxobolus inornatus, Aeromonas spp., and Flavobacterium spp. in Young-of-the-Year Smallmouth Bass with Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization
Histopathological assessments of young-of-the-year smallmouth bass (YOY SMB) in the Susquehanna River drainage identified a high prevalence of the myxozoan Myxobolus inornatus. This myxozoan infects the connective tissue of the muscle below the skin but is sometimes observed in the esophagus and buccal cavity. In some instances, shallow infections cause breaks in the skin which could...
Natural Gas Compositional Analyses Dataset of Gases from United States Wells Natural Gas Compositional Analyses Dataset of Gases from United States Wells
This dataset was created to document the natural occurrence of helium and carbon dioxide throughout the United States. This dataset is sourced primarily from publicly available data from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Federal Helium Program and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The Federal Helium Program, which originally began in 1925 under the U.S. Bureau of Mines (USBM) has...
