Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Dissolved oxygen concentrations, light penetration, and temperature along the water-depth profile of wetlands P1 and P8 of the Cottonwood Lake Study area in North Dakota, USA, 2019 Dissolved oxygen concentrations, light penetration, and temperature along the water-depth profile of wetlands P1 and P8 of the Cottonwood Lake Study area in North Dakota, USA, 2019

This data release presents data that were collected as part of a larger effort to assess factors that regulate metabolism in global lakes, via an international collaboration with the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON). From May to August 2019, dissolved oxygen and light penetration were measured throughout the water-depth profile of two small inland wetlands at Cottonwood...

Presence and cover of exotic annual and perennial grass species during five years post-fire on the Soda Wildfire Presence and cover of exotic annual and perennial grass species during five years post-fire on the Soda Wildfire

Data includes cover and presence (within microsites and 13 m radius plots) of three exotic annual grass, Bromus tectorum, Taeniatherum caput-medusae, and Ventenata dubia and presence (within microsites) of four perennial bunchgrass species (Agropyron cristatum, Pseudoroegneria spicata, Poa secunda, Elymus elymoides) within the first five years after the 2015 Soda wildfire. Additional...

Tidal Datums, Tidal Range, and Nuisance Flooding Levels for Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay Tidal Datums, Tidal Range, and Nuisance Flooding Levels for Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay

This U.S. Geological Survey data release provides data on spatial variations in tidal datums, tidal range, and nuisance flooding in Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay. Tidal datums are standard elevations that are defined based on average tidal water levels. Datums are used as references to measure local water levels and to delineate regions in coastal environments. Nuisance flooding refers...

Initial core data of 2018 sediment cores from Lake Powell, Utah Initial core data of 2018 sediment cores from Lake Powell, Utah

The Lake Powell Coring Project was a USGS research effort, in cooperation with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and U.S. National Park Service. In the fall of 2018, hydraulic piston cores targeted sediment that had been deposited in Lake Powell. This large reservoir on the Colorado River in Utah and Arizona was created after the completion of Glen...

Supporting data: Spatial network clustering reveals elk population structure and local variation in prevalence of chronic wasting disease at Wind Cave National Park, 2005--18 Supporting data: Spatial network clustering reveals elk population structure and local variation in prevalence of chronic wasting disease at Wind Cave National Park, 2005--18

These data were used for preparation of Sargeant et al. (2021), "Spatial network clustering reveals elk population structure and local variation in the prevalence of chronic wasting disease." They include locations of elk that were monitored with global positioning system collars at Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota (WICA) during 2005--08 and 2011--13; coordinates of a polygon...

WRTDS-K nutrient and sediment loads at Illinois EPA Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Network sites, from WY 1978 through 2020 WRTDS-K nutrient and sediment loads at Illinois EPA Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Network sites, from WY 1978 through 2020

This data release contains estimates of annual nitrate, suspended sediment, phosphorus, and chloride loads and uncertainty from sites in the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Network. The loads were estimated using Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season with Kalman filtering (WRTDS-K) and existing discrete water-quality...

Estimated tree mortality, basal area, climate, and drought conditions for ponderosa pine in forest inventory plots across the western U.S. Estimated tree mortality, basal area, climate, and drought conditions for ponderosa pine in forest inventory plots across the western U.S.

These data consist of environmental covariates and estimated plot-level mortality of ponderosa pine trees. Environmental covariates include growing season temperature and soil moisture, and values are summarized into long-term mean conditions, and anomalies observed between forest inventory sampling events for each plot. Data also include plot locations (with uncertainty introduced by...

Macrophyte and amphipod surveys in prairie wetlands of Minnesota in year 2019 Macrophyte and amphipod surveys in prairie wetlands of Minnesota in year 2019

This dataset provides wetland information for 49 semi-permanent wetlands in Minnesota, with target variables of amphipods, water quality variables, and aquatic macrophytes.

Helicopter-based videos and field measurements of flow depth and velocity from the Tanana River, Alaska, acquired on July 24, 2019 Helicopter-based videos and field measurements of flow depth and velocity from the Tanana River, Alaska, acquired on July 24, 2019

This data release includes videos acquired from a helicopter and field measurements of flow depth and velocity from the Tanana River near Nenana, Alaska, obtained on July 24, 2019. This parent data release includes links to child pages for two data sets produced during the study: 1. Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) field measurements of flow depth and velocity from the Tanana...

Topographic and bathymetric data, sediment samples, structure from motion imagery, and reference mark data collected at Marconi Beach, Wellfleet in winter 2021, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2021-022-FA (ver. 2, December 2023) Topographic and bathymetric data, sediment samples, structure from motion imagery, and reference mark data collected at Marconi Beach, Wellfleet in winter 2021, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2021-022-FA (ver. 2, December 2023)

The data in this publication map the beach and nearshore environment at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet, MA and provide regional context for the 2021 CoastCam installation that looks out at the coast shared by beachgoers, shorebirds, seals, and sharks. These data were collected as part of field activity 2021-022-FA and a collaboration with the National Park Service at Cape Cod National...

Illinois River: Emiquon and surrounding area aerial imagery Illinois River: Emiquon and surrounding area aerial imagery

Located in floodplain of the Illinois River near Havana, IL, Emiquon is one of the largest floodplain restoration projects in the Midwest. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) manage a TNC preserve and FWS Naitonal Wildlife Refuge in this area. In 2012, the Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge was designated a "Ramsar Wetland of International Importance."

Simulated inundation extent and depth at Whittier, Alaska resulting from the hypothetical rapid motion of landslides into Barry Arm Fjord, Prince William Sound, Alaska Simulated inundation extent and depth at Whittier, Alaska resulting from the hypothetical rapid motion of landslides into Barry Arm Fjord, Prince William Sound, Alaska

This data release contains postprocessed model output from simulations of hypothetical rapid motion of landslides, subsequent wave generation, and wave propagation. A modeled tsunami wave was generated by rapid motion of unstable material into Barry Arm Fjord. This wave propagated through Prince William Sound and then into Passage Canal east of Whittier. Here we consider only the largest...
