Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

nshmp-lib nshmp-lib

nshmp-lib is a USGS developed Java library that supports probabilistic seismic hazard (PSHA) and related analyses. This project includes all the code required to load, process and query USGS National Seismic Hazard Models (NSHMs). nshmp-lib is used by command line applications and web services found in the nshmp-haz project. See that project for running PSHA calculations.

Polioptila californica Genotype Data from California, USA and Baja California, Mexico Polioptila californica Genotype Data from California, USA and Baja California, Mexico

This dataset contains genomic records from 184 California Gnatcatchers (Polioptila californica) collected at 18 sites in southern California (USA), 13 sites in Baja California (Mexico), and 17 sites in Baja California Sur (Mexico). Genomic markers were generated from ddRAD loci (Peterson and others, 2012) and analyzed using the Stacks v2.53 (Catchen and others, 2013) pipeline. The...

This dataset contains a tabular file of phytoplankton abundance and community composition analysis in samples collected from eight sites in the Western Lake Erie Basin; four sites in Grand Traverse Bay, Lake Michigan; and five sites in Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron. Samples were collected and processed by the Great Lakes Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and analyzed by BSA

Map data from landslides triggered by Hurricane Maria in the greater karst region of northwest Puerto Rico Map data from landslides triggered by Hurricane Maria in the greater karst region of northwest Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria caused widespread landsliding throughout Puerto Rico in September 2017. While the majority of landslide inventories following the hurricane focused on mountainous regions underlain by igneous and volcaniclastic bedrock (Bessette-Kirton et al., 2017, 2019), here we fill an important knowledge gap and document the occurrence of landslides along the greater karst region on...

2020 winter timeseries of UAS derived digital surface models (DSMs) from the Hourglass study site, Bridger Mountains, Montana, USA 2020 winter timeseries of UAS derived digital surface models (DSMs) from the Hourglass study site, Bridger Mountains, Montana, USA

Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) flights were conducted over the headwaters of the South Fork of Brackett Creek in the Bridger Mountains of SW Montana during the winter of 2020. The flights collected overlapping imagery focused on a steep mountain couloir study site known locally as "the Hourglass." Structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry was used to process the collected imagery and...

Biological and chemical data from attenuated and pulsed exposures of fire chemical to fish Biological and chemical data from attenuated and pulsed exposures of fire chemical to fish

Survival endpoints for juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) in response to exposure to wildland firefighting chemicals. Exposures were either attenuated or pulsed. For attenuated exposures, chemical treatment was applied at the beginning of the exposure and control water was added for the duration of the assay so chemical concentration...
