Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Nuclear microsatellite genotypes of six populations of yellow rail (Coturnicops noveboracensis) sampled 2005-2008 Nuclear microsatellite genotypes of six populations of yellow rail (Coturnicops noveboracensis) sampled 2005-2008
These data reflect nuclear microsatellite genotypes for specimens of yellow rails (Coturnicops noveboracensis) sampled in 2005-2008. Data from six populations are included.
Cover, density, and biomass data from Sandberg bluegrass (Poa secunda) restoration treatments Cover, density, and biomass data from Sandberg bluegrass (Poa secunda) restoration treatments
The dataset includes several measurements collected for two complementary phases of a Sandberg bluegrass restoration project. In the first phase of the project, percentage of vegetation and soil surface cover (e.g. soil, rock) were measured within each of 20 treatment plots (described in the following section) using the Line Point Intercept (LPI) method (Herrick et al. 2005) from 2019...
Biological soil crust and vascular plant data from Horse Heaven Hills, Washington, measured in 1999 and remeasured in 2020 Biological soil crust and vascular plant data from Horse Heaven Hills, Washington, measured in 1999 and remeasured in 2020
This dataset contains biocrust lichen and moss cover at 186 plots at Horse Heaven Hills in Washington, USA. These data were measured by Jeanne Ponzetti in 1999 and remeasured by Heather Root in 2020. In addition to the biocrust data, we include site data such as elevation, location, wildfire history, and cover classes of dominant plants, rock and soil.
NASA GIFT Iceland Highlands: 2015-2019 Baugur LiDAR NASA GIFT Iceland Highlands: 2015-2019 Baugur LiDAR
LiDAR scans were taken using a tripod mounted Riegl VZ-400 scanning LiDAR. The tripod was set up such that the scanner was between 1.5 and 2.5 m tall. The VZ-400 is a near infrared (1550 nm) scanner. Geometric control was achieved using a pair of Trimble RB GPS antennae, one mounted on the LiDAR scanner (rover) and the other setup as a base station. Before taking a LiDAR scan, the VZ-400...
Aeromagnetic and derivative gridded data, and magnetization boundaries of northeastern California Aeromagnetic and derivative gridded data, and magnetization boundaries of northeastern California
This data release contains gridded aeromagnetic data from a dataset that merges two aeromagnetic surveys of northeastern California. Data from the Alturas and Burney surveys were gridded and merged to provide a continuous, detailed aeromagnetic dataset of the region. The merged dataset was then corrected for the inclination of the Earth's magnetic field (reduced to pole or rtp); match...
Digitized sonic velocity and density log data of Central Coast Ranges, California Digitized sonic velocity and density log data of Central Coast Ranges, California
Sonic velocity and density well logs in the Central Coast Ranges in California were digitized by hand. These logs are available as scanned files (pdfs and tiffs) on the California Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources website and the data consist of interval transit times and bulk density measured downhole in oil and gas wells in the region. Sonic velocity data were also...
Digital compilation of historical ice terminus positions of tidewater glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska Digital compilation of historical ice terminus positions of tidewater glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska
In coastal subarctic environments such as the fjords of Southeast Alaska, tidewater glaciers can control local hydrology, climatic patterns, ecology, and geologic hazards like landslides and consequent tsunami waves. Documenting and studying glacial retreat in fjords can help scientists understand the dynamic systems that are intrinsically tied to glacial ice processes and forecast...
Global dataset of nutritional value, economic value, and climate vulnerability for species-specific recreational fisheries harvest for consumption (ver. 1.1, August 2025) Global dataset of nutritional value, economic value, and climate vulnerability for species-specific recreational fisheries harvest for consumption (ver. 1.1, August 2025)
These data are nutrition, economic value, and climate vulnerability of inland recreational consumption by country. The dietary contribution is measured as calcium, omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid (hereafter referred as DHA+EPA), iron, protein, vitamin B12, and zinc supply. The economic contribution is measured as total...
Geospatial datasets and hydraulic model for the flood-inundation study of Fourmile Creek at Silver Grove, Kentucky Geospatial datasets and hydraulic model for the flood-inundation study of Fourmile Creek at Silver Grove, Kentucky
Digital flood-inundation maps for a 3.4-mile reach of Fourmile Creek at Silver Grove, Kentucky, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the City of Silver Grove and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District. Because the City of Silver Grove is subject to flooding from Fourmile Creek and the Ohio River (backwater flooding up Fourmile Creek), a set...
Digital database for the geologic map of the Vidal, California, and Parker SW, California-Arizona quadrangles Digital database for the geologic map of the Vidal, California, and Parker SW, California-Arizona quadrangles
This geologic database is a digitized version of the original 1:24,000-scale analog geologic map titled "Geologic map of the Vidal, California, and Parker SW, California-Arizona quadrangles", published by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1980. The map area straddles the Arizona-California border, and is located approximately 9.0 km (5.6 mi) west-southwest of Parker, CA, immediately...
Seepage-run discharge measurements, March 23, 2022, He'eia Stream and 'Ioleka'a Stream, O'ahu, Hawai'i Seepage-run discharge measurements, March 23, 2022, He'eia Stream and 'Ioleka'a Stream, O'ahu, Hawai'i
This data release contains a comma-delimited ascii file of 15 discrete discharge measurements made at sites along selected reaches of He'eia Stream and 'Ioleka'a Stream, O'ahu, Hawai'i, on March 23, 2022. These discrete discharge measurements form what is commonly referred to as a "seepage run." The intent of the seepage run is to quantify the spatial distribution of streamflow along the...
RESTORE/covESTUSAL, Source code for construction of covariates bound to daily salinity and specific conductance data for purposes of statistical modeling in coastal regions of the Gulf of Mexico, United States RESTORE/covESTUSAL, Source code for construction of covariates bound to daily salinity and specific conductance data for purposes of statistical modeling in coastal regions of the Gulf of Mexico, United States
The RESTORE/covESTUSAL software repository contains R language source code useful for the construction of input tables of daily salinity and specific conductance (response variables) from multi-agency monitoring stations and potential predictor variables (covariates) intended for reuse in statistical model construction in coastal regions of the Gulf of Mexico, United States. The source...
