Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Bathymetry data and sediment transport modeling of a submerged nearshore berm at the mouth of the Columbia River, Oregon and Washington, 2020-2021 Bathymetry data and sediment transport modeling of a submerged nearshore berm at the mouth of the Columbia River, Oregon and Washington, 2020-2021
This data release contains gridded bathymetry data from repeated multibeam sonar surveys and input files for a hydrodynamic and sediment transport model application of the mouth of the Columbia River (MCR), Oregon and Washington. The bathymetry data were collected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Portland District Surveys Section between September 9, 2020, and March 10, 2021, to...
Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Program-Geospatial and Tabular Datasets Used in the Compilation of Physiography, Geology, Hydrogeology, and Water Quality Data for the Fort Bliss, Dona Ana Range, McGregor Range, and White Sands Missile Range Area, Texas a Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Program-Geospatial and Tabular Datasets Used in the Compilation of Physiography, Geology, Hydrogeology, and Water Quality Data for the Fort Bliss, Dona Ana Range, McGregor Range, and White Sands Missile Range Area, Texas a
The Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Act was established to systematically assess priority aquifers along the U.S.-Mexico international boundary. The priority aquifers that were specified include the Hueco-Mesilla Bolsons aquifer in Texas and New Mexico and its counterpart in Mexico, the Conejos-Médanos Aquifer system, and the Santa Cruz and San Pedro aquifers in Arizona (Texas Water...
Using seasonal climate scenarios in the ForageAhead annual forage production model for early drought impact assessment Using seasonal climate scenarios in the ForageAhead annual forage production model for early drought impact assessment
High interannual variability of forage production in semi-arid grasslands leads to uncertainties when livestock producers make decisions such as buying additional feed, relocating animals, or using flexible stocking. Within-season predictions of annual forage production (i.e., yearly production) can provide specific boundaries for producers to make these decisions with more information...
Hawaiian Islands climate compatibility of Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB, Oryctes rhinoceros) based on global and local species occurrences 2022 Hawaiian Islands climate compatibility of Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB, Oryctes rhinoceros) based on global and local species occurrences 2022
The arrival of the coconut rhinoceros beetle (CRB, Oryctes rhinoceros) in Hawaii poses serious threats to endemic palm species, crop species and iconic palm trees across the archipelago. As this invasive is found on the island of Oahu primarily at lower elevations, there are concerns about the species spreading towards high value native habitats at higher elevations and/or to other...
Inferring pathogen presence when sample misclassification and partial observation occur Inferring pathogen presence when sample misclassification and partial observation occur
This software contains four separate R scripts and one Matlab script that comprise an analysis to estimate the posterior probability of pathogen presence when sample misclassification and partial observations occur. We develop a Bayesian hierarchal framework that accommodates false negative, false positive, and uncertain detections and apply this framework to a case study of the fungal...
Topo-bathymetric survey at Gandys Beach, New Jersey, 2018 Topo-bathymetric survey at Gandys Beach, New Jersey, 2018
This Data Release contains field topo-bathymetric survey data in a selected saltmarsh shoreline along Gandys Beach, New Jersey, where constructed oyster reefs (CORs, aka oyster castles) were installed to protect the shoreline and enhance habitat for oyster and other species. Oyster castles were constructed as a part of a living shoreline project along Gandys Beach in 2016 in response to...
Potentiometric-Surface Contours in a Bedrock Aquifer near High Falls, New York, 2019–2020 Potentiometric-Surface Contours in a Bedrock Aquifer near High Falls, New York, 2019–2020
This geospatial data set contains groundwater level contours, well locations, and associated metadata that characterize the potentiometric surface near the Rondout pressure-tunnel in High Falls, New York during November 5–7, 2019, and January 21–22, 2020. The pressure tunnel was shut down and partially dewatered for 74 days from November 11, 2019, to January 23, 2020, for inspection and...
Hawaii Island forest bird movement data from 2014 to 2019 Hawaii Island forest bird movement data from 2014 to 2019
This data release includes data and metadata containing estimated and predicted locations of radio telemetered Hawaiian forest birds. Radio telemetry data was collected using an automated radio telemetry network from 2014 to 2019 from birds in two study sites, one a continuous forest and the other a fragmented forest. Four bird species that varied in age and sex were studied: the...
Changes in wildfire occurrence and risk to homes from 1990 through 2019 in the Southern Rocky Mountains, USA (data release) Changes in wildfire occurrence and risk to homes from 1990 through 2019 in the Southern Rocky Mountains, USA (data release)
Wildfires and housing development have increased since the 1990s, presenting unique challenges for fire management. However, it is unclear how the relative influences of housing growth and changing wildfire occurrence have contributed to risk to homes. We fit a random forest using weather, land cover, topography, and past fire history to predict burn probabilities and uncertainty...
Building locations identified before and after the Camp, Tubbs, and Woolsey wildfires Building locations identified before and after the Camp, Tubbs, and Woolsey wildfires
Wildland-urban interface (WUI) maps identify areas with wildfire risk, but they are often outdated due to the lack of building data. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) can extract building locations from remote sensing data, but their accuracy in WUI areas is unknown. Additionally, CNNs are computationally intensive and technically complex making it challenging for end-users, such as...
Hawaiʻi Ambrosia Beetle Direct ROD Transmission 2018-2022 (ver. 2.0, April 2023) Hawaiʻi Ambrosia Beetle Direct ROD Transmission 2018-2022 (ver. 2.0, April 2023)
This release includes data and metadata (1-2) documenting visitation of ambrosia beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) to healthy ʻōhiʻa (Metrosideros polymorpha) trees in two separate experiments, (3) geographical location and details of the trees used in the experiments, (4) culture of the fungal pathogens Ceratocystis lukuohia and Ceratocystis huliohia from naturally and experimentally...
African fish mercury burden and isotopic composition from archived museum specimens African fish mercury burden and isotopic composition from archived museum specimens
Fish collected for taxonomic and systematic purposes are often preserved and then archived in museum collections. Preserved fish are commonly first fixed in a formalin solution and then transferred to ethanol for long-term storage. The wet preservation method can potentially introduce mercury (Hg) contamination or unintentionally extract Hg from tissue. An experiment was designed to test...
