Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Histological and molecular testing of nuclear inclusion X in Pacific Razor clams from select locations in Washington, USA Histological and molecular testing of nuclear inclusion X in Pacific Razor clams from select locations in Washington, USA

Nuclear inclusion X (NIX), the etiological agent of bacterial gill disease in Pacific razor clams (Siliqua patula) was associated with host mortality events in coastal Washington, USA during the mid-1980s. Ongoing observations of truncated razor clam size distributions in Kalaloch Beach, Washington raised concerns that NIX continues to impact populations. We conducted a series of spatial...

CTD (Conductivity Temperature Depth) data collected October-November 2019 offshore of California and Oregon CTD (Conductivity Temperature Depth) data collected October-November 2019 offshore of California and Oregon

CTD (Conductivity Temperature Depth) data were collected October-November 2019 offshore of California and Oregon as part of the ongoing EXPRESS: Expanding Pacific Research and Exploration of Submerged Systems project. The data were collected using an SBE 49 FastCAT V 1.2a CTD profiler attached to the “Yogi” ROV launched from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s)...

Airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey data, northeast Wisconsin (ver. 1.1, June 2022) Airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey data, northeast Wisconsin (ver. 1.1, June 2022)

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during January and February 2021 over a distance of 3,170 line kilometers in northeast Wisconsin. These data were collected in support of an effort to improve estimates of depth to bedrock through a collaborative project between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and...

Bathymetric surveys collected near Dumbarton Bridge in south San Francisco Bay, California, 2008 to 2019 Bathymetric surveys collected near Dumbarton Bridge in south San Francisco Bay, California, 2008 to 2019

In 2008, the U.S. Geological Survey began mapping the main channel and shallow intertidal mudflats between the Dumbarton Bridge and a railroad bridge located 1 km to the south in south San Francisco Bay. This information was collected to document bathymetric change before and after restoration to inform the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project (https://www.southbayrestoration.org)...

Groundwater Time-Series Data at Operable Unit 1, Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, Washington Groundwater Time-Series Data at Operable Unit 1, Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, Washington

This Data Release includes time series data collected at Operable Unit 1, Naval Base Kitsap, Keyport, WA. Groundwater elevations and water-quality parameters in ten monitoring wells were monitored every 15 minutes over a 3-week period from 10/15/2019 to 11/05/2019, a period that included neap and spring tides. This data set is a re-deployment of sensors that follow the same methods of...

Digital subsurface data from previously published maps of the base and thickness of post-Eocene continental deposits in the Sacramento Valley, California Digital subsurface data from previously published maps of the base and thickness of post-Eocene continental deposits in the Sacramento Valley, California

Post-Eocene (predominantly Pliocene) continental sedimentary rocks of the Sacramento Valley, CA are up to 1,200 m thick beneath the valley. These rocks contain most of the fresh ground water in the valley, forming a key component of the total water budget for the valley. A 1974 study by the U.S. Geological Survey was an early attempt to develop detailed knowledge of the subsurface...

Dataset of diatom controls on the compressibility and permeability of fine-grained sediment collected offshore of South Korea during the Second Ulleung Basin Gas Hydrate Expedition, UBGH2 Dataset of diatom controls on the compressibility and permeability of fine-grained sediment collected offshore of South Korea during the Second Ulleung Basin Gas Hydrate Expedition, UBGH2

One of the primary goals of South Korea's second Ulleung Basin Gas Hydrate Expedition (UBGH2) was to examine the geotechnical properties of the marine sediment associated with methane gas hydrate occurrences found off the shore of eastern Korea in the Ulleung Basin, East Sea. Methane gas hydrate is a naturally occurring crystalline solid that sequesters methane in individual molecular...

Dataset of diatom controls on the sedimentation behavior of fine-grained sediment collected offshore of South Korea during the Second Ulleung Basin Gas Hydrate Expedition, UBGH2 Dataset of diatom controls on the sedimentation behavior of fine-grained sediment collected offshore of South Korea during the Second Ulleung Basin Gas Hydrate Expedition, UBGH2

One of the primary goals of South Korea's second Ulleung Basin Gas Hydrate Expedition (UBGH2) was to examine the geotechnical properties of the marine sediment associated with methane gas hydrate occurrences found offshore of eastern Korea in the Ulleung Basin, East Sea. Methane gas hydrate is a naturally occurring crystalline solid that sequesters methane in individual molecular cages...

Wildlife Wrangler Wildlife Wrangler

The abundance of wildlife occurrence datasets that are currently accessible can be valuable for efforts such as species distribution modeling and range delineation. However, the task of downloading and filtering occurrence records is often complex due to errors and uncertainties that are present in datasets. This repository provides a high-level framework for acquiring and filtering...

Topobathymetric Model of the Coastal Georgia, 1851 to 2020 Topobathymetric Model of the Coastal Georgia, 1851 to 2020

To support Hurricane Florence impact modeling of storm-induced flooding and sediment transport, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Coastal National Elevation Database (CoNED) Applications Project has created an integrated 1-meter topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) for coastal Georgia. High-resolution coastal topobathymetric data are required to characterize flooding, storms...

Early Estimates of Exotic Annual Grass (EAG) in the Sagebrush Biome, USA, 2022 (ver 6.0, July 2022) Early Estimates of Exotic Annual Grass (EAG) in the Sagebrush Biome, USA, 2022 (ver 6.0, July 2022)

These datasets provide early estimates of 2022 fractional cover for exotic annual grass (EAG) species and one native perennial grass species on a bi-weekly basis from May to early July. The EAG estimates are developed within one week of the latest satellite observation used for that version. Each bi-weekly release contains four fractional cover maps along with their corresponding...

Data Release for Secondary Hydrogeologic Regions of the Conterminous United States (ver. 2.0, June 2022) Data Release for Secondary Hydrogeologic Regions of the Conterminous United States (ver. 2.0, June 2022)

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) previously identified 62 Principal Aquifers (PAs) in the U.S., with 57 located in the conterminous states. The USGS characterized areas outside of PAs as “other rocks;” other rocks account for about 40% of the area of the conterminous states. This paper subdivides the large area identified as other rocks into Secondary Hydrogeologic Regions (SHRs). SHRs...
