National Landslide Hazard Risk Reduction Working Group
The USGS Landslide Hazards Program is supporting a new working group for professionals who deal with landslide hazard risk reduction at the regional to local scale.
The National Landslide Hazard Risk Reduction (NLHRR) working group comprises professionals including emergency managers, geoscientists, planners, resource managers, academics, and others who deal with landslide hazard risk reduction at the regional to local scale. With members from across the country, the group meets virtually to share best practice methods, develop collaborations, enhance communication, enable training opportunities, and inspire the co-creation of new initiatives.
The NLHRR has initiated 8 Interest Groups, regionally or topically focused subgroups, as outlined in the National Strategy for Landslide Loss Reduction. The Interest Groups meet ~quarterly and are led and populated by NLHRR members. These focused groups enable deeper discussion and enable members to initiate annual work plans to take on tasks or projects.

Virtual meetings are typically held on the second Thursday of each month from 3:00-4:30pm Eastern Time.

Occupying the virtual space, this working group is meant to complement and extend other professional groups dedicated to landslide hazards risk reduction work. USGS staff will provide the initial structure and organizational support, but with time members may take on leadership roles to guide working group programming and structure.
