Data
The New England Water Science Center operates over 500 real-time data collection sites throughout the six New England states. The sites collect surface-water, groundwater, water-quality, and precipitation data. Much of our real-time data is publicly available through NWIS. Additional data releases are also available on the page below.

Borehole, Surface and Water-Borne Geophysical Surveys at the Callahan Mine Superfund Site in Brooksville, Maine: October 2016 to July 2018 Borehole, Surface and Water-Borne Geophysical Surveys at the Callahan Mine Superfund Site in Brooksville, Maine: October 2016 to July 2018
From October 2016 to July 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Maine Department of Transportation, collected surface, marine and borehole geophysical surveys to characterize the subsurface materials on land and under the water at a former mine facility in Brooksville, Maine. Three water-based geophysical methods were used to evaluate...
Bathymetric data for St. Croix River at outlet to East Grand Lake and Forest City Dam Survey, United States-Canadian border between Maine and New Brunswick Bathymetric data for St. Croix River at outlet to East Grand Lake and Forest City Dam Survey, United States-Canadian border between Maine and New Brunswick
These are survey data for the Forest City Dam at the Outlet to East Grand Lake on the St. Croix River between Maine and Canada. And they are bathymetric data surrounding the outlet dam collected with an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP)
Modeled and observed trends at reference basins in the conterminous U.S. from October 1, 1983 through September 30, 2016 Modeled and observed trends at reference basins in the conterminous U.S. from October 1, 1983 through September 30, 2016
This data release contains trend results computed on the basis of modeled and observed daily streamflows at 502 reference gages across the conterminous U.S. from October 1, 1983 through September 30, 2016. Modeled daily streamflows were computed using the deterministic Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS), and five statistical techniques: Nearest-Neighbor Drainage Area Ratio...
Worksheet for computing annual exceedance probability flood discharges and prediction intervals at stream sites in Connecticut Worksheet for computing annual exceedance probability flood discharges and prediction intervals at stream sites in Connecticut
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with Connecticut Department of Transportation, completed a study to improve flood-frequency estimates in Connecticut. This companion data release is a Microsoft Excel workbook for: (1) computing flood discharges for the 50- to 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities from peak-flow regression equations, and (2) computing additional...

Microplastics data collected from streams in the northeastern United States, 2017-2018 Microplastics data collected from streams in the northeastern United States, 2017-2018
This dataset describes the quantity and morphology of microplastics in water, surficial sediment, sediment core, fish, and shellfish samples from Lake Mead National Recreation Area (Nevada/Arizona). Water and surficial sediment samples were collected once at 9 locations. A sediment core (33 cm long) was extracted from Las Vegas Bay to assess changes in microplastic deposition over time...
Basin characteristics and point locations of road crossings in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island for highway-runoff mitigation analyses using the Stochastic Empirical Loading and Dilution Model Basin characteristics and point locations of road crossings in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island for highway-runoff mitigation analyses using the Stochastic Empirical Loading and Dilution Model
This data release documents the location of intersections between roads and streams, referred to as road crossings, and associated basin characteristics to support highway-runoff mitigation analyses using the Stochastic Empirical Loading and Dilution Model (SELDM, Granato, 2013) in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The data set of road crossings was generated from the...
Data associated with the evaluation of the PAT (Purge Analyzer Tool), Stringfellow Superfund site, Jurupa Valley, California, 2017 Data associated with the evaluation of the PAT (Purge Analyzer Tool), Stringfellow Superfund site, Jurupa Valley, California, 2017
Data presented here were collected in support of analyzing the analytical model PAT (Purge Analyzer Tool). There are manual measurements of well construction, hydraulic, and chemical data for several wells from the Stringfellow Superfund site, Jurupa Valley, California. The hydraulic data includes hydraulic head. Chemical data includes physiocochemical data. Physiocochemical profiles of...
Discrete water quality data supporting Herring River restoration project, Cape Cod National Seashore, 1984-2017 Discrete water quality data supporting Herring River restoration project, Cape Cod National Seashore, 1984-2017
Staff from the Cape Cod National Seashore, National Park Service (CACO NPS) began limited water-quality data collection in the Herring River Estuary as early as 1984. In 2006 a monthly sampling program was established for 14 sites to monitor nutrient concentrations, dissolved oxygen, and other constituents. This monitoring program is ongoing and has been supplemented with data from other...
Soil Frost at Sleepers River Research Watershed, Danville, Vermont Soil Frost at Sleepers River Research Watershed, Danville, Vermont
Soil frost measurements have been made at Sleepers River Research Watershed starting in 1983. Measurements were made by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory from 1983 to 1993, followed by the U.S. Geological Survey from 1993 to the present. Measurements started at 5 sites and has increased to 10 sites. Sites range in elevation from 225 to 670...
