Data
The New England Water Science Center operates over 500 real-time data collection sites throughout the six New England states. The sites collect surface-water, groundwater, water-quality, and precipitation data. Much of our real-time data is publicly available through NWIS. Additional data releases are also available on the page below.

Snow Depth and Snow Water Equivalents at Sleepers River Research Watershed, Danville, Vermont Snow Depth and Snow Water Equivalents at Sleepers River Research Watershed, Danville, Vermont
Snow depth and snow water equivalent (SWE) measurements have been made at Sleepers River Research Watershed starting in 1960. Initial snowpack measurements were made by the Agricultural Research Service joined by the National Weather Service in 1966. Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory started measuring the snowpack in 1979, followed by the U.S. Geological Survey from 1993...
Highway-Runoff Database (HRDB) Version 1.1 Highway-Runoff Database (HRDB) Version 1.1
The Highway-Runoff Database (HRDB) was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Project Delivery and Environmental Review to provide planning-level information for decision makers, planners, and highway engineers to assess and mitigate possible adverse effects of highway runoff on the Nation's receiving waters...
Lithostratigrapic, Geophysical, and Hydrogeologic Observations from a Deep Boring in Glacial Sediments on Davis Neck near Nantucket Sound, East Falmouth, Western Cape Cod, Massachusetts Lithostratigrapic, Geophysical, and Hydrogeologic Observations from a Deep Boring in Glacial Sediments on Davis Neck near Nantucket Sound, East Falmouth, Western Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Lithostratigraphic and hydrogeologic observations for the unconfined aquifer of western Cape Cod are limited near coastal groundwater-discharge areas. In spring 2015, a 310-foot-deep boring was drilled and a well was installed to 100 feet below land surface to facilitate detailed study of aquifer characteristics along the southern coast of Cape Cod. Characteristics of interest included...
Data Release for Lake Shadow Seepage Calculations from Ashumet Pond, Cape Cod, MA, 2016 - 2018 Data Release for Lake Shadow Seepage Calculations from Ashumet Pond, Cape Cod, MA, 2016 - 2018
Hydrologic data were collected in the nearshore lake-bottom sediments of five lakes on western Cape Cod, Massachusetts: Ashumet (Falmouth), Long (Centerville), Santuit (Mashpee), Shubael (Barnstable), and Snake (Sandwich) Ponds. Water budgets of flow-through glacial kettle lakes are commonly dominated by groundwater flow into and surface-water seepage out of the lake, and inputs and...
Drought Streamflow Probabilities in Northeast Region Drought Streamflow Probabilities in Northeast Region
Maximum likelihood logistic regression (MLLR) is used to estimate drought probabilities for selected Northeast rivers and streams. Winter streamflows are used to estimate the chance of hydrologic drought during summer months. This application allows the display and query of these drought streamflow probabilities for Northeastern streams.
Trends in 7-day-low streamflows at 174 USGS streamflow gages in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, Mid-Atlantic U.S. Trends in 7-day-low streamflows at 174 USGS streamflow gages in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, Mid-Atlantic U.S.
This data set contains U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgage identification numbers, begin and end years of the periods of streamflow record tested, Sen slope trends in the annual minimum 7-day streamflow for the period of record tested, the p-values (significance) of the trends, and the trend Sen slopes standardized by the standard deviations of the residual errors defined as the...

This data release contains drainage basin characteristics and low-streamflow trend results for 2,482 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages in the conterminous U.S. Data include streamgage identification number, name, drainage area, latitude, longitude, percent developed land use, percent crop land use, dam storage, streamgage classification, record completeness status, and trend...
Massachusetts Sustainable-Yield Estimator (MASYE) application software (version 2.0) Massachusetts Sustainable-Yield Estimator (MASYE) application software (version 2.0)
This software release provides the database application that runs the Massachusetts Sustainable-Yield Estimator (MA SYE) computer program (version 2.0). The MA SYE was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, to provide a planning-level decision-support tool designed to help decision makers estimate daily mean

Geochemical data supporting analysis of geochemical conditions and nitrogen transport in nearshore groundwater and the subterranean estuary at a Cape Cod embayment, East Falmouth, Massachusetts Geochemical data supporting analysis of geochemical conditions and nitrogen transport in nearshore groundwater and the subterranean estuary at a Cape Cod embayment, East Falmouth, Massachusetts
This data release provides analytical and other data in support of an analysis of nitrogen transport and transformation in groundwater and in a subterranean estuary in the Eel River and onshore locations on the Seacoast Shores peninsula, Falmouth, Massachusetts. The analysis is described in U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2018-5095 by Colman and others (2018)...
Water quality data from the Providence Water Supply Board for tributary streams to the Scituate Reservoir, water year 2016 Water quality data from the Providence Water Supply Board for tributary streams to the Scituate Reservoir, water year 2016
Water-quality data were collected by the Providence Water Supply Board (PWSB) from tributaries in the Scituate Reservoir drainage area, October 2015 through September 2016 (water year 2016). These data were used to calculate instantaneous loads and yields of constituents in a report by the U.S. Geological Survey. Water-quality samples were collected by the PWSB either monthly or...
