Data

The USGS Washington Water Science Center currently operates over 380 data-collection sites in Washington.  The sites collect surface water, groundwater, water quality and meteorological data that are available in real time.  Current and historical data can be retrieved from Water Data for the Nation and the National Water Dashboard.

Separately published data releases are listed below.

Temperature data collected from the Lower Yakima River from October 2018 to October 2020 Temperature data collected from the Lower Yakima River from October 2018 to October 2020

A total of 27 temperature sensors were deployed along the lower 90 miles of the Yakima River at 7 locations where cold water had been previously observed. These 7 cold-water areas had 3 to 6 temperature sensors installed to document the extent and duration of these cold-water areas and their impacts on mainstem temperatures of the Lower Yakima River. Cold-water areas included the mouths...

Surface water presence field observation points for Mt. Rainier and surrounding area, WA, July 2018 - September 2020 Surface water presence field observation points for Mt. Rainier and surrounding area, WA, July 2018 - September 2020

This dataset includes spatial locations where surface water presence observations were collected during the late summer baseflow period in Mt. Rainier National Park and surrounding area in Washington State, July 2018 - September 2020. Stream flow status (continuous flow, discontinuous flow, and dry) were recorded using the FLOwPER (FLOw PERmanence) field survey available in the Survey...

Dataset of Groundwater and Surface Water Data Collection for the Walla Walla Basin in Washington, 2018-2022 Dataset of Groundwater and Surface Water Data Collection for the Walla Walla Basin in Washington, 2018-2022

The semi-arid Walla Walla River Basin (WWRB) spans 1,777 square miles in Washington and Oregon and supports a diverse agricultural region as well as cities and rural communities that are partially reliant on groundwater. Historically, surface-water and groundwater data have been collected in the WWRB by federal, state, local, and tribal governments, irrigation districts, universities...

Sediment Volume and Bedrock of the Similkameen River Above Enloe Dam Near Oroville, Washington Sediment Volume and Bedrock of the Similkameen River Above Enloe Dam Near Oroville, Washington

This data release contains 3-meter gridded rasters of depth to bedrock below bathymetric surface, the thickness of unconsolidated sediment, and the volume of unconsolidated sediment within a 2.6-km reach of the Similkameen River, Okanogan County, Washington, impounded by Enloe Dam. These rasters were calculated from continuous resistivity profiles (CRP) surveyed using a SuperSting R8 8...

Continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) in the Similkameen River above Enloe Dam, Okanogan County, Washington Continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) in the Similkameen River above Enloe Dam, Okanogan County, Washington

A continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) survey was conducted in a 1.2-mile reach of the Similkameen River upstream of Enloe Dam in December 2021 in Washington State. The survey was performed to characterize the resistivity of the water column and subbottom materials using the CRP method. The survey consisted of eight longitudinal profiles roughly equivalent in length and conducted in...

Suspended-Sediment Data for the Yakima River at Kiona (USGS 12510500), Washington, June 2018 through September 2022 Suspended-Sediment Data for the Yakima River at Kiona (USGS 12510500), Washington, June 2018 through September 2022

This data release summarizes discrete suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) measurements and continuous estimates of SSC for the Yakima River at Kiona (USGS 12510500) for the period between June 01, 2018 and September 30, 2022. Continuous estimates of SSC were derived primarily through calibrated turbidity records. These data were collected to support a better understanding of how water...

Suspended-Sediment Data for the Chehalis, Satsop and Wynoochee Rivers in Washington State, Water Years 2019-2022 Suspended-Sediment Data for the Chehalis, Satsop and Wynoochee Rivers in Washington State, Water Years 2019-2022

This data release summarizes suspended sediment monitoring results on the Chehalis (USGS 12031000), Satsop (USGS 12035000) and Wynoochee (USGS 12037400) Rivers between water years 2019 and 2022. Sediment monitoring was based on a combination of continuous turbidity records and discrete suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) measurements. Data and results for each monitoring station were...

MODFLOW-NWT model used to evaluate the groundwater availability of the Columbia Plateau Regional Aquifer System, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho MODFLOW-NWT model used to evaluate the groundwater availability of the Columbia Plateau Regional Aquifer System, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho

A three-dimensional groundwater flow model (MODFLOW-NWT) of the Columbia Plateau Regional aquifer (CPRAS) in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho was developed to provide an integrated understanding of the hydrologic system to implement effective water-resource management strategies. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Groundwater Resources Program assessed the groundwater availability as part of...

Soil-Water Balance Model of the Puyallup and Chambers-Clover Basins, Western Washington Soil-Water Balance Model of the Puyallup and Chambers-Clover Basins, Western Washington

This archive documents a Soil-Water Balance (SWB) model of the Puyallup and Chambers-Clover Basins in Pierce and King Counties, Washington. The SWB model used to estimate a water budget and recharge for input into a groundwater flow model of the Puyallup and Chamber-Clover Basins between January 2005 and December 2015.

MODFLOW-NWT model to simulate the groundwater flow system near Puget Sound, Pierce and King Counties, Washington MODFLOW-NWT model to simulate the groundwater flow system near Puget Sound, Pierce and King Counties, Washington

A three-dimensional groundwater flow model, constructed in MODFLOW-NWT, was developed to evaluate the groundwater flow system near Puget Sound, Pierce and King Counties, Washington. A steady-state model version was constructed to simulate equilibrium conditions, while a transient model version was constructed to simulate monthly variability from January 2005 to December 2015. The model...

Bathymetric Map of the Lummi Sea Pond, October 2022 Bathymetric Map of the Lummi Sea Pond, October 2022

On October 5-6, 2022, a combination of Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveying were used to collect bathymetric data of the Lummi Sea Pond near Bellingham, WA. Distributed XYZ points were interpolated to create a continuous bathymetric map of the sea pond. The final product is two-meter raster in NAD88 (2011) UTM 10N coordinates...
