Procurement Technician (OA), GS-1106

Definitions:

EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience is twelve months working full-time (at least 35-40 hours per week). Part-time experience can be pro-rated (i.e., a yearat 20 hours per week is credited as 6 months of experience). If your position consisted of mixed duties, experience credit is given for the percentage of time that you spent on qualifying duties (i.e., if you held a position for 2 years, full-time, consisting of 25% personnel work and 75% budget work, and then applied for a budget position you could calculate your experience as follows:. 2 yrs = 24 months. 24 months x 75% [percentage of time spent on budget duties] = 18 months of qualifying experience.)

UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION: A year of undergraduate education is 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or the equivalent of college study. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent was a prerequisite.

 

For GS-04:

Applicants must type 40 word per minute or more with 3 or fewer errors based on a 5-minute sample AND meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-04 level:

One year of general experience which is defined as utilizing simple arithmetic to verify calculations by adding and multiplying figures in documents; or utilizing one or more basic automated or manual files to locate, add, retrieve, or correct routing information using well-established, clear-cut procedures;

**OR two full years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite;

For GS-05:

Applicants must type 40 word per minute or more with 3 or fewer errors based on a 5-minute sample AND meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-05 level:

One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this positions. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to tat least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Example of GS-4 level work: use of various procurement processing procedures to support purchase transactions involving different forms and the application of different procedures (e.g. imprest fund accounts, bank cards, delivery orders, purchase orders and simple contracts).

**OR a full four years of progressive, successfully completed education above the high school level in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

**OR equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and specialized experience my used to meet the qualification requirements for GS-5. Only progressive education in excess of the first 60 semesters hours or 90 quarter hours (i.e., beyond the first two years) of a course of study is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. (CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS ON HOW TO COMBINE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)

 

For GS-06:

Applicants must type 40 word per minute or more with 3 or fewer errors based on a 5-minute sample AND meet the following to qualify for the GS-06 level:

One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. EXAMPLES OF GS-5 level work: utilizing a wide variety of interrelated steps and procedures to assemble, review, and maintain procurement files related to complex contracts (e.g., large purchases for specialized supplies, or large purchases for services and construction).

 

For GS-07:

Applicants must type 40 word per minute or more with 3 or fewer errors based on a 5-minute sample AND meet the following to qualify for the GS-07 level:

One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Service. Examples of GS-6 level work: inputting a range of standard information or adjustments into one or more automated data bases associated with a specific procurement function; reviewing recurring error reports and taking correcting action and generating a variety of standard reports.

 

For GS-08:

Applicants must type 40 word per minute or more with 3 or fewer errors based on a 5-minute sample AND meet the following to qualify for the GS-08 level:

One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Service. Examples of GS-7 level work: researching errors or investigating complaints that require reconstructing and reconciling incomplete information or performing other nonstandard procedural assignments. Such assignments have provided an understanding of various functional areas such as inventory management, cataloging, transportation and supply.
