Andrew Teeple

Andrew (also known as Andy) is a Hydrologist and Informatics Specialist for Oklahoma and Texas as part of the Science and Quality Assurance Branch of the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center.

In 2003, Andy began working with the USGS as a student hydrologist in the Nebraska Water Science Center. He was tasked with geophysical equipment maintenance, field preparations and equipment setup, and did entry level data processing and interpretation.

In 2006, Andy became a full-time Hydrologist for the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center. Building on his experience as a student, he began having a larger role in interpretation and report writing, which eventually led to being project chief. He has led multiple projects that utilized various types of compiled and newly collected data (typically including a geophysical element) to evaluate different groundwater related concerns in the United States as well as in international countries (Mexico, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, and Thailand).

From 2009-2014, along with his hydrologist duties, Andy was the groundwater database administrator for Texas. He was tasked with establishing sites in the National Water Information System, reviewing the groundwater site inventory for errors and inconsistencies, and assisting personnel in data retrieval and entry from and to the database.

In 2014, Andy began and continues to serve as the team lead of the Geophysics and Subsurface Analysis Unit (GSAU). As a team lead, he coordinates the actions of the GSAU and serves as a central point of contact for geophysical and subsurface related issues for the district.

In 2024, Andy began and continues to serve as the Informatics Specialist as part of the Science and Quality Assurance Branch in the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center. As Informatics Specialist, he evaluates and aims to improve the information management and technology for science data throughout its lifecycle. During his time with the USGS, he has been author or coauthor of over 30 published scientific investigation reports or journal articles and over 15 data releases.
