The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has improved Landsat data quality and usability through the creation of Analysis Ready Data (ARD) for the conterminous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. Landsat ARD greatly reduces the preparatory work currently required to do time-series analysis for understanding landscape change for operational and science users.
November 8, 2017 – New Video Introduces Landsat Analysis Ready Data
A new video introducing Landsat Analysis Ready Data (ARD) has been added to the Landsat ARD webpage, as well as the Landsat Media Library.
Landsat ARD is a revolutionary new product that makes the Landsat archive more accessible, easier to analyze, and reduces the amount of time users spend on data processing for time-series analysis. Landsat ARD are derived from Landsat Collection 1 Level-1 scenes, which are then processed and arranged in geospatially calibrated tiles and dense temporal stacks for immediate use in monitoring and assessing landscape change. Each Landsat ARD tile consists of top of atmosphere reflectance, brightness temperature, surface reflectance, and pixel quality assessment.
Download Landsat ARD from EarthExplorer or visit the Landsat ARD webpage for more information, which also includes a link to the official USGS Technical Announcement.
