North vent fountains are beginning to grow rapidly have reached about 200 feet (60 meters) at 4 pm HST. Tremor is also increasing rapidly and tilt dropping indicating peak fountains should occur in the next 30-60 minutes.

North vent fountains have been continuous since 3 pm HST and have grown to about 65 feet (20 meters) high. Periodic overflows continue from the south vent. Tremor and tilt show episode 47 underway as of 3:27 pm.

The Halemaʻumaʻu north vent is reawakening after slowly dribbling lava most of the day. V1cam appears to show lava effusing from the western of two closely spaced vent openings, then it descending into the eastern opening.

The have been over 40 precursory overflows from the south vent this morning since 3 a.m. HST. Tremor and tilt both remain constant, typical of precursory activity. A small stream of lava can be seen on the backwall of the north vent.
Kilauea Message 2026-05-14 08:49:21 HST
There have been more than 10 overflows from the south vent so far and they are increasing in frequency but decreasing in duration. Tilt is currently flat around the summit and tremor remains constant.

An overflow from the south vent began at 2:57 a.m. HST this morning, the first in advance of an expected lava fountaining episode 47 at Kīlauea summit. Further dome fountains and overflows are likely to precede the onset of fountaining.
