Seasonal detection and collection method comparison of Cumberlandia monodonta and Ortmanniana ligamentina male mitotype eDNA from the Big Piney River, MO, U.S.A. from July 2020 to April 2023 Seasonal detection and collection method comparison of Cumberlandia monodonta and Ortmanniana ligamentina male mitotype eDNA from the Big Piney River, MO, U.S.A. from July 2020 to April 2023
Data describe the detection of spectaclecase (Cumberlandia monodonta) and mucket (Ortmanniana ligamentina) freshwater mussel environmental DNA (eDNA) from water samples collected from the Big Piney River in Pulaski County, MO, U.S.A. Water samples were collected from 2 sites known to contain the target species by previously surveyed mussel beds. Sampling transects spanned from 100 meters...
Seasonal sampling for freshwater mussel environmental DNA at Bennett Island in the Clinch River, Virginia, USA 2020-2022 Seasonal sampling for freshwater mussel environmental DNA at Bennett Island in the Clinch River, Virginia, USA 2020-2022
We tested eDNA metabarcoding as a monitoring tool to detect freshwater mussel assemblages at the Bennett Island site on the Clinch River. Sampling occurred seasonally from July 2020 through October 2022. We filtered 1L water samples 100 meters upstream and 100 meters downstream of the known mussel assemblage. We amplified and sequenced data at the ND1 and COI markers (Klymus et al., 2021...
Seasonal streamflow enhanced unit runoff method estimates across the conterminous United States, 2000 through 2020 Seasonal streamflow enhanced unit runoff method estimates across the conterminous United States, 2000 through 2020
This data release contains seasonal streamflow estimates across the conterminous United States (2,691,587 NHDPlusV2 flowlines with defined from nodes) for 21 water years from November 1999 through December 2020. Streamflow was estimated using the Enhanced unit RunOff Method (EROM) following McKay and others (2012) with updated diversion representation and extended here to include...
Seasonal streamflow-metric trends for four United States coastal regions, 1943 through 2022 Seasonal streamflow-metric trends for four United States coastal regions, 1943 through 2022
The streamflow trends in this data release were computed as part of a study on trends in seasonal streamflows relevant to diadromous fish in four United States coastal regions. We investigated seasonal-flow trends at 1,155 gages for eight streamflow metrics from 1973 to 2022 and 89 gages from 1943 to 2022. Two of the regions are on the Pacific coast and two are on the Atlantic coast.
Sediment core data from offshore Cascadia during field activities 2020-633-FA and 2021-636-FA Sediment core data from offshore Cascadia during field activities 2020-633-FA and 2021-636-FA
This data release contains sediment core data including core imagery, multi-sensor core logger (MSCL) data, and grainsize data. As part of a multi-year project focused on characterizing offshore marine geohazards (tsunamis, earthquakes, and landslides), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program is collaborating with MBARI to conduct research along...

Sediment Data From Cores Collected in 2025 at Midnight Pass, Florida Sediment Data From Cores Collected in 2025 at Midnight Pass, Florida
In June 2025, scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (SPCMSC) conducted sediment core sampling at Midnight Pass, an inlet between Siesta Key and Casey Key, Florida. This inlet was closed by mechanical action in 1983 and reopened by the passage of hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, reconnecting Little Sarasota Bay to the Gulf...
Sediment Deposition Across the Eden Landing Tidal Marsh in San Francisco Bay, CA Sediment Deposition Across the Eden Landing Tidal Marsh in San Francisco Bay, CA
Measuring the spatial and temporal patterns of tidal marsh sediment deposition builds our understanding of how physical forcing (tidal flooding and waves) and sediment availability interacts with the marsh. We deployed sediment pad filter traps in twelve shore-normal transects across the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve tidal marshes and restorations in south San Francisco Bay, CA...
Sediment temperature data, sediment redox data, and vertical specific discharge calculations from a salt marsh along the Herring River in Wellfleet, MA, September to December 2023 and June to July 2025 Sediment temperature data, sediment redox data, and vertical specific discharge calculations from a salt marsh along the Herring River in Wellfleet, MA, September to December 2023 and June to July 2025
Groundwater – surface water (GW-SW) exchange plays a fundamental role in the transport of energy and solutes in coastal salt marshes, which may be influenced by flow of terrestrial groundwater and tidal fluctuations. Sediment heat tracing and redox tracking experiments were conducted at a hillslope-adjacent fringing salt marsh on the Herring River in Wellfleet, MA to test new monitoring...
Sediment temperatures and estimates of vertical groundwater-surface water exchange using the tempest1d model: Data from the mainstem Quillayute River, WA, summer 2024 Sediment temperatures and estimates of vertical groundwater-surface water exchange using the tempest1d model: Data from the mainstem Quillayute River, WA, summer 2024
This dataset includes sediment temperature data collected from seven sites on the mainstem of the Quillayute River in the summer of 2024. Sediment temperatures were collected at up to four depths (1, 4, 7, and 11 centimeters) at each location using a temperature rod that was installed into the streambed. See "quillayute.sites.2024.csv" for field IDs, sediment thermal properties, and...
Sedimentary geochemistry data from the Galápagos Spreading Center, sampled Aug-Nov 2023 Sedimentary geochemistry data from the Galápagos Spreading Center, sampled Aug-Nov 2023
This data release includes geochemistry data collected from sediments, sediment pore fluids, and high temperature hydrothermal vent fluids from the Galápagos Spreading Center. Samples were collected from Aug - Nov 2023. Data types include total carbon and nitrogen content, carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes, dissolved iron concentrations, and lipid biomarker concentrations.
Seepage investigations and discharge measurements at Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, 2021-2024 Seepage investigations and discharge measurements at Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, 2021-2024
This data release pertains to a seepage investigation conducted in order to compliment a dye tracing study at Oregon Caves National Monument in Josephine County, Oregon. The seepage dataset includes geospatial files of discharge measurement points and zero-flow observations along with vector lines delineating losing and gaining stream reaches. Hydrologic systems in karst environments...
