Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Total phosphorus and total dissolved phosphorous released from Green Ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica) and Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) as they contribute to leachable phosphorus in leaf litter and impact phosphorus loads in urban stormwater Total phosphorus and total dissolved phosphorous released from Green Ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica) and Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) as they contribute to leachable phosphorus in leaf litter and impact phosphorus loads in urban stormwater

The data set contains results from leaf litter samples analyzed for total phosphorus (TP) and total dissolved phosphorus (TDP) released from Green Ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica) and Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) leaves in three medium-density urban residential basins in Madison, WI, USA during October and November of 2017 and 2018. Tables contain averages and standard deviations for all...

Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Butler Valley Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2020 Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Butler Valley Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2020

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Butler Valley Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ twice in 2020 first on March 11th and again on August 11th; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program images dated 2019 and supplemented with Landsat and...

Ecological property data and experimental lab incubation results from a long-term nitrogen deposition simulation experiment in three semi-arid grasslands, Arches National Park, Utah, USA, 2013-2019 Ecological property data and experimental lab incubation results from a long-term nitrogen deposition simulation experiment in three semi-arid grasslands, Arches National Park, Utah, USA, 2013-2019

These data were compiled to understand the responses of dryland ecosystem properties to long-term simulated atmospheric nitrogen deposition. Objective(s) of our study were to uncover any changes in soil biogeochemistry and ecosystem properties to long-term nitrogen amendments. These data represent ecosystem property data compiled over the nine-year history of a nitrogen deposition...

Multiple Species Comparisons from EverForecast May 2021 Multiple Species Comparisons from EverForecast May 2021

These data are summaries and comparisons of the EverForecast outputs from May 2021. EverForecast is a near-term hydrologic forecasting application that provides daily water depth forecasts across the freshwater Everglades (Pearlstine et al. 2020); water depth forecasts are then used to run species models. Here, we examine the EverForecast outputs of five species models: (1) American...

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ once in 2020 on July 16th; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program images dated 2019 and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collections accessed...

Mangrove distribution in the southeastern United States in 2021 Mangrove distribution in the southeastern United States in 2021

Global climate change is leading to large-scale shifts in species' range limits. For example, rising winter temperatures are shifting the abundance and distributions of tropical, cold sensitive plant species towards higher latitudes. Coastal wetlands provide a prime example of such shifts, with tropical mangrove forests expanding into temperate salt marshes as winter warming alleviates...

Seismogenic Landslides and other Mass Movements (ver. 3.0, May 2025) Seismogenic Landslides and other Mass Movements (ver. 3.0, May 2025)

This data release is a compilation of known landslides and other mass movements that generated seismic signals observable on existing seismic networks. The data release includes basic information about each event such as location, volume, area, and runout distances as well as information about seismic detections and the location of seismic data, photos, maps, GIS files, and links to...

Native ranges of freshwater fishes of North America Native ranges of freshwater fishes of North America

Background: The Nonindigenous Aquatic Species (NAS) Database functions as a repository and clearinghouse for the occurrence of nonindigenous aquatic species information from across the United States. The Database contains locality information on more than 1,300 species introduced as early as 1800, including freshwater vertebrates and invertebrates, aquatic plants, and marine fishes. Taxa...

Seagrass, benthic invertebrate, and water-quality data for a near-shore area of the Laguna Madre near South Padre Island, Texas, July 2021 Seagrass, benthic invertebrate, and water-quality data for a near-shore area of the Laguna Madre near South Padre Island, Texas, July 2021

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the City of South Padre Island, Texas, collected baseline seagrass, benthic invertebrate, and water-quality data for a near-shore area of the Laguna Madre near South Padre Island in July 2021. Sample and data collection points were located within a grid consisting of eight transects and three sampling points on each transect. The data...

Organic and Metal Contaminants in Fish Tissue Collected from the Niagara River Area of Concern, New York, 2018 Organic and Metal Contaminants in Fish Tissue Collected from the Niagara River Area of Concern, New York, 2018

Fish tissue from 203 samples collected at five locations in the Niagara River Area of Concern in 2018 were analyzed for a wide range of analytes including Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), pesticides (E1 and E2), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), organochlorine and other persistent organic compounds, metals, lipid and moisture. Over 230 analytes were analyzed in the tissue samples...
