Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data for a lab study of the effects of diet variability on the interactions between a Lepidopteran herbivore and its parasitoid Data for a lab study of the effects of diet variability on the interactions between a Lepidopteran herbivore and its parasitoid
Data were collected from two laboratory rearing experiments conducted in 2018 of Trichoplusia ni caterpillars that had been parasitized by Copidosoma floridanum parasitoids. In the first experiment, parasitized caterpillars were fed artificial diets spiked with increasing concentrations of the phytochemical xanthotoxin in order to assess the effect of xanthotoxin on parasitoid success...
Pesticide and Pharmaceutical Exposure Data for Select Streams within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 2019 Pesticide and Pharmaceutical Exposure Data for Select Streams within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 2019
This dataset included the concentration results (in nanograms per liter) for 328 pharmaceutical and pesticide compounds analyzed within the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Tennessee and North Carolina, in 2019. Two samples were collected (July and September) at 15 locations within the park, and one location at the park boundary. Samples were analyzed at the National Water Quality...
Geophysical and sampling data collected offshore Oceanside, southern California during field activity 2017-686-FA from 2017-10-23 to 2017-10-31 Geophysical and sampling data collected offshore Oceanside, southern California during field activity 2017-686-FA from 2017-10-23 to 2017-10-31
This data release contains geophysical and sediment sample data that were collected aboard the R/V Snavely in 2017 on U.S. Geological Survey cruise 2017-686-FA offshore Oceanside, southern California. The goal of the survey was to provide high-resolution imaging, magnetic anomaly profiles and sediment analysis to characterize the surface and subsurface properties of the study area such...
Three-dimensional grid of properties used to analyze induced seismicity recorded from 1991 to 2012 at Paradox Valley, Colorado Three-dimensional grid of properties used to analyze induced seismicity recorded from 1991 to 2012 at Paradox Valley, Colorado
Large numerical grid used for finite element and finite volume analysis of induced seismicity in Paradox Basin. The grid construction used the boundaries of three sub-horizontal surfaces; the topography, and the top and bottom of the production formation is determined from drilling and seismic reflection profiling, yielding the surface topography and thickness variations in these data...
Flow-Conditioned Parameter Grids for the Contiguous United States: A Pilot, Seamless Basin Characteristic Dataset Flow-Conditioned Parameter Grids for the Contiguous United States: A Pilot, Seamless Basin Characteristic Dataset
Abstract To aid in parameterization of mechanistic, statistical, and machine learning models of hydrologic systems in the contiguous United States (CONUS), flow-conditioned parameter grids (FCPGs) have been generated describing upstream basin mean elevation, slope, land cover class, latitude, and 30-year climatologies of mean total annual precipitation, minimum daily air temperature, and...
Dixie Valley Toad Radio Telemetry Data from Churchill County, Nevada, 2018-2019 Dixie Valley Toad Radio Telemetry Data from Churchill County, Nevada, 2018-2019
This U.S. Geological Survey data release includes tabular data collected to characterize the habitat and movement of Dixie Valley toads. Data were collected in Dixie Valley, Nevada, in autumn 2018 and spring 2019. These data support the following publication: Halstead, B.J., Kleeman, P.M., Rose, J.P. and Fouts, K.J., 2021. Water Temperature and Availability Shape the Spatial Ecology of a...
Pesticide detections in streams throughout the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range using passive samplers from 2017 to 2019 Pesticide detections in streams throughout the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range using passive samplers from 2017 to 2019
This dataset was produced from analyzing Affinisep SDB-RPS, Affinisep HLB, and Restek Resprep C18 disks that were deployed with the use of Chemcatcher passive sampling devices. Silicone bands were also deployed and used for exploring economical methods of sampling for pesticides in surface water. Sampling assemblies were deployed in streams throughout the foothills of the Sierra Nevada...
Topographic and bathymetric data, sediment samples, and imagery collected at Head of the Meadow Beach, Truro in March 2020, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2020-015-FA (ver. 2.0, December 2023) Topographic and bathymetric data, sediment samples, and imagery collected at Head of the Meadow Beach, Truro in March 2020, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2020-015-FA (ver. 2.0, December 2023)
The data in this release map the beach and nearshore environment at Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro, MA and provide environmental context for the camera calibration information for the 2019 CoastCam installation that looks out at the coast shared by beachgoers, shorebirds, seals, and sharks. This is related to the field activity 2020-015-FA and a collaboration with the National Park...
Empirical and Provisional Seed Transfer Zones for the Mojave Desert and Surrounding Regions (ver. 3.0, December 2024) Empirical and Provisional Seed Transfer Zones for the Mojave Desert and Surrounding Regions (ver. 3.0, December 2024)
Empirical evidence that local adaptation and home-site advantages are frequent across plant taxa has increased recognition that local adaptation plays a fundamental role in shaping plant responses to seed transfer (i.e., when plant materials are introduced to a site during restoration). Use of maladapted plant materials can lead to poor project outcomes if propagules exhibit poor...
Post-fire Chondrilla juncea and biocontrol at Boise River Wildlife Management Area 2018-2019 Post-fire Chondrilla juncea and biocontrol at Boise River Wildlife Management Area 2018-2019
Top-down and bottom-up factors affecting invasive populations are rarely considered simultaneously, yet their interactive responses to disturbances and management interventions can be essential to understanding invasion patterns. We evaluated post-fire responses of the exotic perennial forb Chondrilla juncea (rush skeletonweed) and its biocontrol agents to landscape factors and a post...
Head smut infections on cheatgrass cover in the first four years after the 2015 Soda Wildfire Head smut infections on cheatgrass cover in the first four years after the 2015 Soda Wildfire
Data includes head smut infection level (caused by the fungal pathogen, Ustilago bullata) on cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) and cheatgrass cover for plots measured annually during the first four years after the 2015 Soda wildfire. Additional landscape and weather covariates that are hypothesized to influence infection and host density are included.
