Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Otolith microchemistry and microstructure of age-0 silver carp for determining early-life environments and spawning periodicity in the Upper Mississippi River in 2016 Otolith microchemistry and microstructure of age-0 silver carp for determining early-life environments and spawning periodicity in the Upper Mississippi River in 2016

In 2016, for the first time, an abundance of age-0 silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) were captured at several sites upstream of Lock and Dam 19 on the Upper Mississippi River near Keokuk, Iowa. These data were collected in an attempt to determine the early life environments and frequency and timing of the reproductive events that led to a large year class of age-0 silver carp...

Peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages in and near Teton County, Montana, based on data through water year 2019 Peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages in and near Teton County, Montana, based on data through water year 2019

The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY-MT WSC) completed a report (Sando and McCarthy, 2018) documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines. The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 66.7-, 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for...

A snapshot of stakeholder science needs related to drought in the Colorado River Basin A snapshot of stakeholder science needs related to drought in the Colorado River Basin

Stakeholder science needs were determined by reviewing more than 200 recently published literature items and web pages from Colorado River Basin (CRB) stakeholders. These stakeholder communications were used to characterize over 400 stakeholder science needs by reviewing their priorities, strategies, issues, missions, and concerns related to drought in the CRB. Members of the CRB...

Enhanced Terrain Imagery of the White Clay Creek Watershed from Lidar-Derived Elevation Models at 1-Meter Resolution Enhanced Terrain Imagery of the White Clay Creek Watershed from Lidar-Derived Elevation Models at 1-Meter Resolution

This imagery dataset consists of 1-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the White Creek Clay watershed in Pennsylvania and Delaware, which includes part of the Delaware River Basin. The footprint of this dataset covers USGS Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) areas HUC 12-020402050301, HUC 12-02040205030102, HUC 12-02040205030103, HUC 12-02040205030106, and part of HUC 12-02040205030108...

U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bathymetric Survey of Lake Koocanusa, Lincoln County, Montana, 2016-2018 U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bathymetric Survey of Lake Koocanusa, Lincoln County, Montana, 2016-2018

In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) started collecting high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) data on Lake Koocanusa. The survey originated near the International Boundary (River Mile (RM) 271.0) and extended down the reservoir, hereinafter referred to as downstream, about 1.4 miles downstream of the Montana 37 Highway Bridge near Boulder Creek (about RM 253). USACE...

U-Pb ages of detrital zircons in Paleogene strata of the Gulf Coast U-Pb ages of detrital zircons in Paleogene strata of the Gulf Coast

This data release contains 60 detrital zircon age spectra, based on U and Pb isotope ratio measurements for 9399 single grains. The samples are from Paleogene strata of the U.S. Gulf Coast. Of the 9399 single grain measurements, we recommend that 8640 yield ages that are suitable for construction of detrital zircon age spectra. Comments tagged to individual grains explain the reasoning...
