Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

MODPATH Model Used to Evaluate Flowpaths from Two Contaminant Plume Source Areas near Joint Base Cape Cod, Western Cape Cod, Massachusetts MODPATH Model Used to Evaluate Flowpaths from Two Contaminant Plume Source Areas near Joint Base Cape Cod, Western Cape Cod, Massachusetts

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) used an existing groundwater flow model to determine steady-state groundwater flowpaths from two contaminant plume source areas by using a particle tracking post-processing model (MODPATH; Pollock, 2012) as part of an assessment of potential contaminant discharge at the coast in Bourne, Massachusetts. The extents of the source areas, originating from two...

Geophysical grids, horizontal gradient maxima and depth to bedrock of the Blythe region, California and Arizona Geophysical grids, horizontal gradient maxima and depth to bedrock of the Blythe region, California and Arizona

This data release contains (1) geophysical grids, (2) horizontal gravity and residual magnetic gradient maxima and (3) inputs to a gravity inversion of Cenozoic basin thickness based on gravity measurements of the Blythe region of California and Arizona. Gridded data (geotiffs.zip) consist of the input isostatic gravity grid as well as grids of Cenozoic basin thickness and bedrock...

Data supporting "Detecting bumble bees in the wild using environmental DNA: development and validation of a qPCR assay for the endangered Franklin's bumble bee (Bombus franklini)" Data supporting "Detecting bumble bees in the wild using environmental DNA: development and validation of a qPCR assay for the endangered Franklin's bumble bee (Bombus franklini)"

This dataset includes quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) data for an in vitro test of the Bombus franklini eDNA assay using target and nontarget DNA extract, qPCR data for a plate used to calculate the limits of detection and quantification of the assay based on serial 10-fold dilutions of B. franklini gBlock, qPCR data for an in situ test of the assay using flower samples...

Remotely sensed observations using Landsat time-series from 2013-2023 to determine water savings for riparian corridor sites in the Lower Colorado River Basin affected by tamarisk defoliation Remotely sensed observations using Landsat time-series from 2013-2023 to determine water savings for riparian corridor sites in the Lower Colorado River Basin affected by tamarisk defoliation

These spatial and tabular data were compiled to have a decades-long record of the water usage in the riparian corridor for 27 selected sites where tamarisk (Tamarix spp) or saltcedar defoliation was reported by ground observations and/or exhibited in Google Imagery at locations across the Lower Colorado River Basin. Data for these sites was measured remotely for plant health as...

Greater Sage-grouse and Common Raven Demographic and Count Data Before and After Egg-oiling Treatments of Raven Nests at Control and Treatment Sites Greater Sage-grouse and Common Raven Demographic and Count Data Before and After Egg-oiling Treatments of Raven Nests at Control and Treatment Sites

These data contain field and analytical data used to evaluate the effects of applying non‑toxic oil to common raven (Corvus corax) eggs on both raven reproductive success and demographic responses of co‑occurring greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) populations across sagebrush ecosystems in Nevada and California. Data include: (1) Raven nest monitoring data (nest locations...

Effects of vegetation and soils surface disturbance and reclamation on invasive annual grasses: an annotated bibliography to inform environmental effects analyses related to oil and gas development Effects of vegetation and soils surface disturbance and reclamation on invasive annual grasses: an annotated bibliography to inform environmental effects analyses related to oil and gas development

This data release includes citation details, abstracts, and results of a semi-automated content analysis for 171 publications we identified on the topic of the potential effects of vegetation and soils surface disturbance and reclamation associated with oil and gas development on invasive annual grass establishment and spread. Our goal was to develop a structured literature search and...

This data release contains climatic datasets used in U.S. Geological Survey Scientific-Investigations Report 2026-5140 that may no longer be available from the original source. The climatic datasets include near-surface air temperature and precipitation records from National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) U.S. Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) station Whiteriver 1 SW...

Underwater Audio Data Collected in the Upper Colorado River, Colorado, 2021-24 Underwater Audio Data Collected in the Upper Colorado River, Colorado, 2021-24

This data release contains audio data collected from 2021 to 2024, expanding on the dataset collected for a 2019 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) study which tested the use of hydrophones to detect bedload mobilization and identify a streamflow threshold at which bedload began to mobilize in the Upper Colorado River (Kohn and others, 2020). Child item "Stationary Hydrophone Data collected...

Step selection of loggerhead sea turtles along migration in the Gulf of America 2008-2015 Step selection of loggerhead sea turtles along migration in the Gulf of America 2008-2015

This dataset contains step lengths of individual loggerhead sea turtles tracked during their migration in the Gulf of America from 2008 to 2015.
