Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Digital data from previous USGS hydrogeologic studies of the Gulf Coast region, south-central United States Digital data from previous USGS hydrogeologic studies of the Gulf Coast region, south-central United States
This dataset captures in digital form the results of previously published U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Mission Area studies related to water resource assessment of Cenozoic strata and unconsolidated deposits within the Mississippi Embayment and the Gulf Coastal Plain of the south-central United States. The data are from reports published from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s by the...
Lifespan of Chesapeake Bay salt marsh units Lifespan of Chesapeake Bay salt marsh units
Lifespan distribution in the Chesapeake Bay (CB) salt marsh complex is presented in terms of lifespan of conceptual marsh units defined by Ackerman and others (2022). The lifespan calculation is based on estimated sediment supply and sea-level rise (SLR) predictions after Ganju and others (2020). Sea level predictions are present day estimates at the prescribed rate of SLR, which...
Collection of digital structure contour maps from previously published USGS studies Collection of digital structure contour maps from previously published USGS studies
Under the direction and funding of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (NCGMP) with guidance and encouragement from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), there has been a decadal strategic plan in place to call for geologic mapping across the nation. This call has been increasing the need for digital data that has not yet been made available. With such a demand...
Distribution Models Predicting Groundwater Influenced Ecosystems in the Northeastern United States Distribution Models Predicting Groundwater Influenced Ecosystems in the Northeastern United States
Globally, groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs) are increasingly vulnerable to groundwater extraction and land use practices. Groundwater supports these ecosystems by providing inflow, which can maintain water levels, water temperature, and chemistry necessary to sustain the biodiversity that they support. Many aquatic systems receive groundwater as a portion of base flow, and in some...
PRMS Model Archive for Selected Catchments in the Lake Michigan Basin Used in Examination of Multi-Objective Model Calibration PRMS Model Archive for Selected Catchments in the Lake Michigan Basin Used in Examination of Multi-Objective Model Calibration
This model archive contains 20 Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) models for 20 catchments within the Lake Michigan watershed (Mei and others, 2022). PRMS is a process-based distributed deterministic watershed model designed for the simulation of hydrologic processes including evaporation, transpiration, runoff, infiltration, interflow, and groundwater flow (Markstrom and others...
Population Structure and Genetic Diversity of Eastern North American Moose Population Structure and Genetic Diversity of Eastern North American Moose
Hair samples were collected in discrete areas during radio-collar studies in Vermont under the auspices of University of Vermont IACUC protocol #17-035 (n=106), New Hampshire (n=34), and Maine (n=57). Hair and tissue samples were opportunistically collected from animals that were harvested, died in vehicle collisions, or translocated throughout Vermont (n = 105), Quebec (n = 198)...
South White Lake Shoreline Protection (ME-22): 2005 and 2018 land-water classifications South White Lake Shoreline Protection (ME-22): 2005 and 2018 land-water classifications
The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to...
inlcolor---Color palettes for the U.S. Geological Survey Idaho National Laboratory Project Office inlcolor---Color palettes for the U.S. Geological Survey Idaho National Laboratory Project Office
The R package inlcolor provides access to a variety color schemes. Used to support packages and scripts written by researchers at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Idaho National Laboratory Project Office (INLPO). Key features of this package are (1) a simple and consistent API, (2) support for qualitative, diverging, and sequential color schemes, (3) support for combining color...
MODFLOW-NWT model to simulate the groundwater flow system near Puget Sound, Pierce and King Counties, Washington MODFLOW-NWT model to simulate the groundwater flow system near Puget Sound, Pierce and King Counties, Washington
A three-dimensional groundwater flow model, constructed in MODFLOW-NWT, was developed to evaluate the groundwater flow system near Puget Sound, Pierce and King Counties, Washington. A steady-state model version was constructed to simulate equilibrium conditions, while a transient model version was constructed to simulate monthly variability from January 2005 to December 2015. The model...
Keswick Reservoir, California, Delft3D-FM Model Archive Keswick Reservoir, California, Delft3D-FM Model Archive
Application of Delft3D-FM model to Keswick Reservoir in California, for short-term (days) simulations. Model archive includes source code (open-source, created by Deltares in the Netherlands), input files, and output files in netCDF format. Source code will need to be compiled for the operating system and hardware being used. Instructions are included with the source code. A separate...
Alkenone temperature estimates from the Miocene (Burdigalian, Langhian, Tortonian) and Pliocene (Zanclean) Atlantic Coastal Plain sediments Alkenone temperature estimates from the Miocene (Burdigalian, Langhian, Tortonian) and Pliocene (Zanclean) Atlantic Coastal Plain sediments
This dataset collects sea surface temperature data generated through alkenone analysis of Neogene sediments collected from cores and outcrops of the Virginia and Maryland Atlantic Coastal Plain.
Survival, growth, and chemical data from a study on influences of water hardness on chronic toxicity of potassium chloride to a Unionid mussel (Lampsilis siliquoidea) Survival, growth, and chemical data from a study on influences of water hardness on chronic toxicity of potassium chloride to a Unionid mussel (Lampsilis siliquoidea)
The objective of this study was to evaluate the chronic toxicity of potassium (tested as KCl) to a commonly tested unionid mussel (fatmucket, Lampsilis siliquoidea) at five water hardness levels (25, 50, 100, 200, 300 mg/L as CaCO3) representing most surface waters in the United States. Chronic 28-d potassium chloride toxicity tests were conducted with 3-week-old juvenile fatmucket using...
