Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geochemical and Geophysical Characteristics of the Conterminous U.S. Geochemical and Geophysical Characteristics of the Conterminous U.S.
This dataset is a collection of 12 rasters depicting geochemical and geophysical characteristics of surface or near surface geology. These rasters were created to quantify the influence of geology on surface and critical zone processes like stream water chemistry, soil formation, ecologic processes, and species distributions by providing estimates of spatial variability in current...
Topographic and bathymetric data, structure from motion imagery, and ground control data collected at Marconi Beach, Wellfleet, MA in March 2022, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2022-014-FA Topographic and bathymetric data, structure from motion imagery, and ground control data collected at Marconi Beach, Wellfleet, MA in March 2022, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2022-014-FA
The data in this release map the beach and nearshore environment at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet, MA and provide updated environmental context for the 2021 CoastCam installation that looks out at the coast shared by beachgoers, shorebirds, seals, and sharks. This is related to the field activity 2022-014-FA and a collaboration with the National Park Service at Cape Cod National Seashore to...
Rangewide Occupancy and Post-Fire Recovery of California Gnatcatchers in Southern California (ver. 3.0, October 2024) Rangewide Occupancy and Post-Fire Recovery of California Gnatcatchers in Southern California (ver. 3.0, October 2024)
This project has two goals: Goal 1: The goal of this project is to conduct a statistically rigorous study of occupancy to determine the post-fire recovery of gnatcatchers and coastal sage scrub vegetation with the goal of informing management before, during, and after fire. Goal 2: The goal of this project is to conduct rangewide surveys to determine California Gnatcatcher occupancy at a...
Totatlanika River Terrace Luminescence Age Data Collected 2020-2022 Totatlanika River Terrace Luminescence Age Data Collected 2020-2022
This dataset comprises three tables containing infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) ages and related data from samples collected at seven terrace sites along the Totatlanika River in central Alaska in 2020 and 2021. The IRSL ages and data were generated from the samples at the Utah State University Luminescence Lab. The ages were determined to enable computation of rates of bedrock...
Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Observation Data (Groundwater Level, Streamflow) (ver. 3.0, April 2026) Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Observation Data (Groundwater Level, Streamflow) (ver. 3.0, April 2026)
This digital dataset includes two sets of observational data (groundwater level and streamflow) used to calibrate the updated Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM2). Subsidence and Aquifer-System Compaction Data Used as Observations are available in the companion data release (Brandt and others, 2026; https://doi.org/10.5066/P144BREY). CVHM2 is a tool that can be used to quantify the
Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Subsidence and Aquifer-System Compaction Data Used as Observations Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Subsidence and Aquifer-System Compaction Data Used as Observations
The Central Valley, and particularly the San Joaquin Valley, has a long history of land subsidence caused by groundwater development. The extensive withdrawal of groundwater from the unconsolidated deposits of the San Joaquin Valley lowered groundwater levels and caused widespread land subsidence—reaching 9 meters by 1981. More than half of the thickness of the aquifer system is composed...
Computed Streamflow Using Satellite Data for Selected Rivers in Alaska Computed Streamflow Using Satellite Data for Selected Rivers in Alaska
This dataset provides computed remotely-sensed streamflows (RSQ) at river reaches of selected rivers in Alaska. We used the relation between water-surface elevation data derived from satellite altimetry and dynamic surface water extent data derived from LANDSAT and Sentinel imagery data with the Modified Optimized Manning Method Algorithm (MOMMA) to compute remotely sensed streamflows...
Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Groundwater Pumping Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Groundwater Pumping
This digital dataset contains datasets used to develop the Multi Node Well (MNW2) Package in CVHM2. It includes well locations, well properties for Municipal Pumping, Rural Pumping, Recovery Pumping, and Agricultural Pumping. The data release also includes pumping rates for Municipal Pumping, Rural Pumping, Recovery Pumping. Agricultural Pumping are estimated in CVHM2 by the farm process...
Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Subsidence Package Central Valley Hydrologic Model version 2 (CVHM2): Subsidence Package
This digital dataset contains datasets used to develop the Subsidence Package in CVHM2. Data includes number of delay interbeds per model cell (Neq), equivalent thickness for a delay interbeds (Beq), and the zones used to define subsidence parameters. Beq and Neq are calculated from the database of well logs, which is provided in the parent dataset. Five zones are used to define...
Data release for Seasonality of precipitation in the southwestern United States during the late Pleistocene inferred from stable isotopes in herbivore tooth enamel Data release for Seasonality of precipitation in the southwestern United States during the late Pleistocene inferred from stable isotopes in herbivore tooth enamel
The late Pleistocene was a climatically dynamic period, with abrupt shifts between cool-wet and warm-dry conditions. Increased effective precipitation supported large pluvial lakes and long-lived spring ecosystems in valleys and basins throughout the western and southwestern U.S., but the source and seasonality of the precipitation are debated. Here we present stable carbon and oxygen...
Overlapping seabed images and location data acquired using the SQUID-5 system at Looe Key, Florida, in July 2021, with structure-from-motion derived point cloud, digital elevation model and orthomosaic of submerged topography Overlapping seabed images and location data acquired using the SQUID-5 system at Looe Key, Florida, in July 2021, with structure-from-motion derived point cloud, digital elevation model and orthomosaic of submerged topography
Underwater images were collected using a towed-surface vehicle with multiple downward-looking underwater cameras developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The system is named the Structure-from-Motion (SfM) Quantitative Underwater Imaging Device with Five Cameras (SQUID-5). The raw images and associated navigation data were collected at Looe Key, a coral reef located within the...
