Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Hawaiian Islands datasets quantifying the effects of invasive animals and plants on native forests across the archipelago 2019 Hawaiian Islands datasets quantifying the effects of invasive animals and plants on native forests across the archipelago 2019

Dataset includes publicly available geologic and rainfall data, and environmental and ecological data derived or collected for this project. Specifically, water infiltration measurements, interpreted field-saturated hydraulic conductivity values, ungulate activity, vegetation cover, general soil and weather conditions data are included. Soil samples were collected, lab analyzed, and are...

High-resolution digital elevation model of Mount St. Helens and upper North Fork Toutle River basin, based on airborne lidar surveys of August-September, 2017 High-resolution digital elevation model of Mount St. Helens and upper North Fork Toutle River basin, based on airborne lidar surveys of August-September, 2017

The lateral blast, debris avalanche, and lahars of the May 18th, 1980, eruption of Mount St. Helens, Washington, dramatically altered the surrounding landscape. Lava domes were extruded during the subsequent eruptive periods of 1980-1986 and 2004-2008. During 2017, U.S. Forest Service contracted the acquisitions of airborne lidar surveys of Mount St. Helens and upper North Fork Toutle...

2015 Irrigated acres feature class for the Upper Rio Grande Basin, New Mexico and Texas, United States and Chihuahua, Mexico 2015 Irrigated acres feature class for the Upper Rio Grande Basin, New Mexico and Texas, United States and Chihuahua, Mexico

Consumptive use (CU) of water is an important factor for determining water availability and groundwater storage. Many regional stakeholders and water-supply managers in the Upper Rio Grande Basin have indicated CU is of primary concern in their water-management strategies, yet CU data is sparse for this area. This polygon feature class, which represents irrigated acres for 2015, is a...

04087088 - Underwood Creek at Wauwatosa, WI - 2019/07/17 GPS Survey 04087088 - Underwood Creek at Wauwatosa, WI - 2019/07/17 GPS Survey

The dataset contains GPS survey data from the second of two surveys conducted after a high flow event on August 20, 2018, at the USGS streamgage 04087088 - Underwood Creek at Wauwatosa, WI. This survey, on July 17, 2019, documents cross section geometry. The survey was performed using Trimble R10 RTK GPS unit (SN: 5326439561) and Trimble S7 Robotic Total Station (SN: 37430018).

The dataset contains GPS survey data from the first of two surveys conducted after a high flow event on August 20, 2018, at the USGS streamgage 04087088 - Underwood Creek at Wauwatosa, WI. This survey, on September 14, 2018, documents high-water marks. The survey was performed using Topcon GR-5 GPS unit (SN: 851-10007).

Ambystomatid salamander population and breeding pond habitat data for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (2001 - 2003) Ambystomatid salamander population and breeding pond habitat data for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (2001 - 2003)

This database contains breeding pond use data (i.e., egg mass and larval abundance counts) of three ambystomatid salamander species (Spotted salamander, Jefferson salamander, and marbled salamander) collected from 200 individual aquatic habitats (ponds, wetlands, and impoundments) in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation. Data were collected between the years 2001 and 2003. The...

Calibration Coefficients for the U.S. Geological Survey National Crustal Model and Depth to Water Table Calibration Coefficients for the U.S. Geological Survey National Crustal Model and Depth to Water Table

The U.S. Geological Survey National Crustal Model (NCM) is being developed to include spatially varying estimates of site response in seismic hazard assessments. Primary outputs of the NCM are continuous velocity and density profiles from the Earth's surface to the mantle transition zone at 410 km depth for each location on a 1-kilometer grid across the conterminous United States...

Wild lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) diets from annual Lake Huron fall bottom trawl surveys (2008-2017) Wild lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) diets from annual Lake Huron fall bottom trawl surveys (2008-2017)

Diet analyses were performed on juvenile lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) captured by bottom trawl during annual USGS Great Lakes Science Center demersal fish community surveys in mid-October to mid-November 2008?2017 in Lake Huron. This dataset contains lake trout capture information (e.g., location, depth) and diet item data (taxa consumed and their associated lengths).

Historical produced water chemistry data compiled for the Orcutt and Oxnard oil fields, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, southern California Historical produced water chemistry data compiled for the Orcutt and Oxnard oil fields, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, southern California

This digital dataset represents historical geochemical and other information for 58 sample results of produced water from 56 sites in the Orcutt and Oxnard oil fields in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, respectively, in southern California. Produced water is a term used in the oil industry to describe water that is produced as a byproduct along with the oil and gas. The locations from...

High-resolution seismic imaging of the West Napa Fault Zone at Buhman Avenue, Napa, California High-resolution seismic imaging of the West Napa Fault Zone at Buhman Avenue, Napa, California

In November 2016, the U.S. Geological Survey acquired high resolution P- and S-wave seismic data across the trace of the West Napa Fault zone near Buhman Avenue in Napa, California. The primary goal of the seismic survey was to image the subsurface damage from the 2014 MW 6.0 South Napa earthquake to assist in a near-surface fault slip and deformation investigation. We acquired seismic...

Walrus Haulout Photographs Near Pt. Lay Alaska, September 2014 Walrus Haulout Photographs Near Pt. Lay Alaska, September 2014

These data are three sets of aerial photos used to estimate the number of walruses at a haulout near Pt. Lay, Alaska in September 2014. They were collected during photographic aerial surveys of the only major haulout that occurred on the eastern shores of the Chukchi Sea after sea ice receded beyond the continental shelf on 25 and 27 September 2014.
