Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Dauphin Island Decadal Forecast Evolution Model Inputs and Results Dauphin Island Decadal Forecast Evolution Model Inputs and Results

The model input and output of topography and bathymetry values resulting from forecast simulations of coupled modeling scenarios occurring between 2015 and 2025 at Dauphin Island, Alabama, and described in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Open-File Report 2020-1001 (https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr20201001), are provided here. For further information regarding model input generation and...

Dauphin Island Decadal Hindcast Model Inputs and Results Dauphin Island Decadal Hindcast Model Inputs and Results

The model input and output of bathymetry and topography elevations resulting from a deterministic simulation from 2004 to 2015 at Dauphin Island, Alabama, as described in Mickey and others (2020), are provided here. For further information regarding model input generation and visualization of model output topography and bathymetry refer to Mickey and others (2020). For more information...

Data tables summarizing the source-specific estimated water withdrawals in Florida by category, county, and water management district, 2015. Data tables summarizing the source-specific estimated water withdrawals in Florida by category, county, and water management district, 2015.

In 2015, the total amount of water withdrawn in Florida was estimated at 15,319 million gallons per day (Mgal/d). This includes 9,598 Mgal/d of saline water and 5,721 Mgal/d of fresh water. Groundwater accounted for 3,604 Mgal/d and surface water accounted for 2,117 Mgal/d of the fresh water withdrawals. Surface water accounted for 9,400 Mgal/d and groundwater 198 Mgal/d of the saline...

Arctic Shorebird Population Model Arctic Shorebird Population Model

This R script will run one example of the stochastic matrix models run by Weiser et al. (2020) to simulate shorebird populations. The model predicts population growth rates and elasticity values of vital rates. The example script is stand-alone and contains input values for one example species; input values for the other species are provided in the manuscript.

Tracking Data for Black Scoter (Melanitta americana) Tracking Data for Black Scoter (Melanitta americana)

This data release includes 2 child items with tracking data for Black Scoters, a sea duck species that breeds throughout higher latitudes of Alaska and Canada and winters along coastal areas of North America. Child Item 1: "Argos Satellite Tracking Data for Black Scoters (Melanitta americana) - Processed Data" -- Quality-controlled data collected from Argos satellite transmitters.

Marginalizing Bayesian population models - data for examples in the Grand Canyon region, southeastern Arizona, western Oregon USA - 1990-2015 Marginalizing Bayesian population models - data for examples in the Grand Canyon region, southeastern Arizona, western Oregon USA - 1990-2015

These data were compiled here to fit various versions of Bayesian population models and compare their performance, primarily the time required to make inferences using different softwares and versions of code. The humpback chub data were collected by US Geological Survey and US Fish and Wildlife service in the Colorado and Little Colorado Rivers from April 2009 to October 2017. Adult...

Stand density and climate data in the Taylor Woods study area (Fort Valley Experimental Forest) on the Colorado Plateau in Northern Arizona, 1961-2011 Stand density and climate data in the Taylor Woods study area (Fort Valley Experimental Forest) on the Colorado Plateau in Northern Arizona, 1961-2011

These data were compiled for research pertaining to the effects of stand density on growth rates in semi-arid forests. Increasing heat and aridity in coming decades is expected to negatively impact tree growth and threaten forest sustainability in dry areas. Maintaining low stand density has the potential to mitigate the negative effects of increasingly severe droughts by minimizing...

Pinyon and Juniper location data, including a literature review citation list of Pinyon-Juniper systems from 1909 to 2018 Pinyon and Juniper location data, including a literature review citation list of Pinyon-Juniper systems from 1909 to 2018

These data were compiled for a comprehensive review of pinyon-juniper communities including Pinus edulis, Pinus monophylla, Juniperus osteosperma, Juniperus monosperma, and Juniperus scopulorum. Compiled are a list of references cataloged by the topic of interest resulting from the literature search. The characterization for each reference includes the focal species, descriptions of the...

Groundwater quality data from Bristol and Cadiz Basins, San Bernardino County, California, USA Groundwater quality data from Bristol and Cadiz Basins, San Bernardino County, California, USA

Water chemistry data from wells drilled by brine operations in Bristol and Cadiz Basins in San Bernardino County, California, USA. These data are used in the Journal article: Rosen, M.R, Stillings, L.L., Kane, T., Campbell-Hay, K., Vitale, M., Spanjers, R., in press, Possible sources and mechanisms of anomalous Li and Ca enrichment in the Bristol Dry Lake brine compared to other playa...

High-Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey of the Centralia Area, Southwest Washington High-Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey of the Centralia Area, Southwest Washington

The data in this release originate from a low-altitude, aeromagnetic survey of the Centralia and Chehalis area of southwestern Washington. The survey was conducted between September 22 and October 22, 2015, by Eon Geosciences, Inc, working under contract to the U.S. Geological Survey. The covered region extends from the Cascade Range in the east to Willapa Bay in the west, and includes...

High-Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey of the Skykomish Area, Washington High-Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey of the Skykomish Area, Washington

This data release provides access to a low-altitude, aeromagnetic survey of a part of north-central Washington. The survey is centered approximately 120 km northwest of Yakima and includes the small town of Skykomish. The Skykomish aeromagnetic survey covers a part of the central Cascade Range of Washington, the western portion of the Jurassic ophiolitic Ingalls tectonic complex, and the
