Overview
The USGS National Land Imaging Program will host its second National Imagery Summit on August 31 through September 2, 2021. Titled “Landsat and Society,” this free, virtual event over three half-days (afternoons U.S. Eastern time) will focus on the use of Landsat data across the United States by state, local, tribal, commercial, and non-profit organizations.
The event will include up-to-date information on the Landsat 9 launch, planning for Landsat Next, recent and new USGS Landsat-derived information products, and societal benefits analyses and land-imaging policy.
The event will provide a timely opportunity to showcase how users across the Nation use Landsat data for informed decisions on land, water, and resource use that protect life and property; safeguard the environment; advance science, technology and education; support climate resiliency; and grow the U.S. economy. It will be organized into plenary-level remarks, panel sessions, and lightning talk presentations by a broad range of Landsat data users (career professionals and students). Substantial time will be allotted to Q&A and focused engagement with users on Landsat issues of importance to them.
