ECCOE 2024 Surface Reflectance Validation Dataset

Scientists and engineers from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) Cal/Val Center of Excellence (ECCOE) collected in situ measurements using field spectrometers to support the validation of surface reflectance products derived from Earth observing remote sensing imagery. Data provided in this data release were collected during select...

2021 Potomac River Phase II Topobathymetric Lidar Validation - USGS Field Survey Data

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists conducted field data collection efforts between September 30th and October 9th, 2021 over a large stretch of the Potomac River in Maryland and West Virginia using high accuracy surveying technologies. The work was initiated as an effort to validate commercially acquired topobathymetric light detection and ranging (lidar) data that was collected...

2019 Eastern Iowa Topographic Lidar Validation – USGS Field Survey Data

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists conducted field data collection efforts between October 25th and 31st, 2020 at several sites in eastern Iowa using high accuracy surveying technologies. The work was initiated as an effort to validate commercially acquired topographic light detection and ranging (lidar) data that was collected between December 7th, 2019 and November 19th, 2020...

LEAP: Landsat Extended Acquisitions of the Poles Imaging Plan

Landsat Extended Acquisitions of the Poles (LEAP) imaging plan is a Landsat special request data collection program for Earth's polar regions that include Antarctica, Greenland, and Arctic sea ice geographies. The LEAP program includes Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 observatories that operationally acquire spaceborne images of all Earth's land surface and near-shore coastal environments. These...

Data provided in this data release were collected during select...

Landsat 9 Collection 2 cloud truth mask validation set

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center in Sioux Falls, SD developed a cloud validation dataset from 48 unique Landsat 9 Collection 2 images. These images were selected at random from the Landsat 9 archive from various locations around the world. While these validation images were subjectively designed by a single analyst, they provide...

Data Release: Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon, Hyperspectral Algal Samples

This data represents samples of algae from Upper Klamath Lake Oregon, during the summer of 2016. Data were sampled from the lake using standard protocols and then shipped to the remote sensing laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for analysis on the hyperspectral microscope at NIST.
