This metadata record describes model outputs and supporting model code for the Data-Driven Drought Prediction project of the Water Resources Mission Area Drought Program. The data listed here include outputs of multiple machine learning model types for predicting hydrological drought at select locations within the conterminous United States. The child items referenced below correspond to...

Streamflow Drought Metrics for Select United States Geological Survey Streamgages for Three Different Time Periods from 1921 - 2020 Streamflow Drought Metrics for Select United States Geological Survey Streamgages for Three Different Time Periods from 1921 - 2020

This metadata record describes a series of datasets containing metrics used to characterize drought for four sets of United States Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages in the conterminous United States (CONUS) for three different time periods between 1921 and 2020 outlined below. The streamgages used are a subset based on the criteria used in Geospatial Attributes of Gages for Evaluating

U.S. Streamflow Drought During the Last Century: annual drought and low flow metrics, annual climate, and trends for the periods 1921-, 1951- and 1981-2020 (ver. 1.1, August 2025) U.S. Streamflow Drought During the Last Century: annual drought and low flow metrics, annual climate, and trends for the periods 1921-, 1951- and 1981-2020 (ver. 1.1, August 2025)

This dataset contains annual flow metrics quantifying drought and low streamflows for USGS GAGES-2 gages in the contiguous U.S. satisfying data completeness checks for the periods 1921-2020, 1951-2020, and 1981-2020. The dataset also contains annual climate variables from the USGS Monthly Water Balance Model (MWBM). The dataset provides trend analysis outputs for annual drought and low...

USGS monthly water balance model inputs and outputs for the conterminous United States, 1895-2020, based on ClimGrid data USGS monthly water balance model inputs and outputs for the conterminous United States, 1895-2020, based on ClimGrid data

This NetCDF represents the monthly inputs and outputs from a United States Geological Survey water-balance model (McCabe and Wolock, 2011) for the conterminous United States for the period 1895-01-01 to 2020-12-31. The source data used to run the water balance model is based on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's(NOAA, 2020) ClimGrid data for precipitation and...

Clusters of monthly streamflow values with similar temporal patterns at 555 HCDN sites for the period 1981 to 2019 Clusters of monthly streamflow values with similar temporal patterns at 555 HCDN sites for the period 1981 to 2019

This data release identifies 555 Hydro-Climatic Data Network (HCDN) streamgages in the conterminous United States during the period 1981-2019 which were grouped according to similarity in their temporal patterns of monthly streamflow.

Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Irrigated Agriculture Datasets for the Conterminous United States (MIrAD-US) Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Irrigated Agriculture Datasets for the Conterminous United States (MIrAD-US)

NASS USDA estimates the irrigated croplands at county level every five years. But this estimation does not provide the geospatial information of the irrigated croplands. To provide a comprehensive, consistent, and timely geospatially detailed information about irrigated cropland conterminous U.S. (CONUS), the "Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Irrigated Agriculture...

Drought Streamflow Probabilities in Northeast Region Drought Streamflow Probabilities in Northeast Region

Maximum likelihood logistic regression (MLLR) is used to estimate drought probabilities for selected Northeast rivers and streams. Winter streamflows are used to estimate the chance of hydrologic drought during summer months. This application allows the display and query of these drought streamflow probabilities for Northeastern streams.

Tree mortality in Sequoia National Park from 2004 to 2007 and during severe drought in 2014 to 2017 Tree mortality in Sequoia National Park from 2004 to 2007 and during severe drought in 2014 to 2017

These data describe tree mortality and the factors associated with tree mortality for a variety of plots in Sequoia National Park. Most of the data were collected between 2014 and 2017 (during an extremely severe drought), along with some comparison data from 2004 to 2007. These data support the following publication: Stephenson, N.L., Das, A.J., Ampersee, N.J., Bulaon, B.M., and Yee, J...

Pennsylvania Drought Condition Monitoring Pennsylvania Drought Condition Monitoring

The PA Drought Condition Monitoring Application shows the current drought status for each county and hydrologic conditions for precipitation, streamflow, groundwater levels, and Palmer Drought-Severity Index used by PA DEP for drought monitoring.

Measures of the vulnerability of runoff to drought during 2015 in the western United States Measures of the vulnerability of runoff to drought during 2015 in the western United States

Measures used to assess the vulnerability of streamflow in 326 river basins to the 2015 drought in the western United States.

Early growth interactions between a mangrove and an herbaceous salt marsh species are not affected by elevated CO2 or drought, Louisiana saltmarsh, 2015 Early growth interactions between a mangrove and an herbaceous salt marsh species are not affected by elevated CO2 or drought, Louisiana saltmarsh, 2015

In recent decades the encroachment of woody mangrove species into herbaceous marshes has been documented along the U.S. northern Gulf of Mexico coast. These species shifts have been attributed primarily to rising sea levels and warming winter temperatures, but the role of elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and water availability may become more prominent drivers of species...

Long-term Experimental Forest Growth and Drought Data Long-term Experimental Forest Growth and Drought Data

These data were compiled in order to represent long-term (multi-decadal) forest growth across eight different experimental forests in the United States, each with replicated levels of density treatments, as well as an important drought index correlated to growth. Forests around the world are experiencing severe droughts and elevated competitive intensity due to increased tree density...
