The center’s staff of about 100 conducts scientific research throughout the United States and in international waters to describe and understand the processes shaping coastal ecosystems, such as dunes, beaches, salt marshes, and lakes, and marine ecosystems, like the continental shelf and the deep sea.
Law of the Sea
The USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program established a Coastal Change Hazards programmatic focus to support the optimization of resources, improve the visibility of USGS coastal hazards science, and prioritize science, products, and tools that meet stakeholder needs.
2022 Annual Report
The center’s research products, highlighted in this report, are used by other Federal agencies, State and local entities, private organizations, and the public to make informed decisions about the use, management, and protection of our coastal and marine resources.
