Ashley Lopez is a chemist with the Algal and Environmental Toxins Unit at the Central Plains Water Science Center and is a member of the USGS Environmental Health Program Toxins and Harmful Algal Bloom Integrated Science Team. Her work involves several analytical techniques such as quantitative and qualitative analysis using high resolution mass spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), screening assays such as Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), titration, and spectroscopy to support research understanding the occurrence and impacts of toxic Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). She has been with USGS since 2021.
