Data

The USGS Water Resources Mission Area provides water information that is fundamental to our economic well-being, protection of life and property, and effective management of our water resources. Listed below are discrete data releases and datasets produced during our science and research activities. To explore and interact with our data using online tools and products, view our web tools.

ListingAnalyst version 1.2 ListingAnalyst version 1.2

ListingAnalyst has been updated to work with MODFLOW 6 and the most recent versions of MODFLOW-2005 and MODFLOW-NWT. In addition to recognizing many additional error and warning messages, it also recognizes data for the Riparian package in MODFLOW-OWHM, the AG package in MODFLOW-NWT and the Surface-Water Routing package.

GW_Chart version 1.30 GW_Chart version 1.30

GW_Chart is a program for creating specialized graphs used in groundwater studies. It incorporates the functionality of two previous programs, Budgeteer and Hydrograph Extractor and adds additional new features. There are seven major types of graphs created with GW_Chart: Calibration Plots Water Budget Plots Hydrographs Lake Plots Piper Diagrams Cell Water Budgets Farm Budgets It reads...

Acetylene Consumption and Dechlorination by a Groundwater Microbial Enrichment Culture Acetylene Consumption and Dechlorination by a Groundwater Microbial Enrichment Culture

This study aimed to (1) enrich microbial acetylenotrophs from trichloroethylene (TCE) contaminated groundwater and (2) evaluate whether these enrichments could degrade TCE coupled to acetylene degradation. Acetylenotrophs are microorganisms that use acetylene as their carbon and energy source. TCE contaminated groundwater was collected from wells at the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) in...

Aerial photographs from the Yampa and Little Snake Rivers in northwest Colorado used to characterize channel changes occurring between 1954 and 1961 Aerial photographs from the Yampa and Little Snake Rivers in northwest Colorado used to characterize channel changes occurring between 1954 and 1961

Aerial photographs of the Yampa and Little Snake Rivers acquired in 1954 and 1961 were used to examine channel changes occurring along these two rivers during this time period. In addition, these data were used to develop and test a generalizable new approach to characterizing the uncertainty associated with analyses of channel change based on time series of remotely sensed data, which...

Soil Water Balance Model datasets and models used to evaluate potential recharge to the Floridan Aquifer System, 1895 through 2010 Soil Water Balance Model datasets and models used to evaluate potential recharge to the Floridan Aquifer System, 1895 through 2010

A soil-water balance model (SWB) was developed to estimate potential recharge and irrigation water demand from the groundwater flow system in Florida and parts of Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina for the period 1895 through 2010. This SWB model executable code detailed in the report SWB A Modified Thornthwaite-Mather Soil-Water-Balance Code for Estimating Groundwater Recharge...

Soil-Water Balance model and datasets used to estimate groundwater recharge Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties North Carolina 1980 through 2016 Soil-Water Balance model and datasets used to estimate groundwater recharge Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties North Carolina 1980 through 2016

Soil water balance model archive for portions of North Carolina. The model was created to estimate recharge to the groundwater flow system in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties in North Carolina. The development of the model input and output files included in this model archive were created to support a regional groundwater flow model being produced for the surficial, Castle...

ORByT - Optical River Bathymetry Toolkit ORByT - Optical River Bathymetry Toolkit

The Optical River Bathymetry Toolkit, ORByT, is an application to facilitate mapping water depth in river channels from passive optical image data. ORByT provides an integrated workflow for image processing, depth retrieval, and export of results.

Nitrogen biogeochemistry in a boreal headwater stream network in Interior Alaska, 2008 to 2011 Nitrogen biogeochemistry in a boreal headwater stream network in Interior Alaska, 2008 to 2011

High latitude, boreal watersheds are nitrogen-limited ecosystems that export large amounts of organic carbon. Key controls on carbon cycling in these environments are the biogeochemical processes affecting the nitrogen cycle. This data release presents results of a 3-year field study from 2008-2011 to document the relation between seasonal and transport-associated changes in carbon and...

QRev QRev

The software program, QRev, written in Python, computes the discharge from moving-boat ADCP measurements using data collected with any of the Teledyne RD Instrument (TRDI) or SonTek bottom tracking ADCPs. The computation of discharge is independent of the manufacturer of the ADCP because QRev applies consistent algorithms independent of the data source. In addition, QRev automates...

Stable isotope analysis of San Francisco Bay-Delta primary producers (1990-2000) Stable isotope analysis of San Francisco Bay-Delta primary producers (1990-2000)

This dataset is a compilation of multiple studies over different periods and in many environments as described below. These data were collected to measure temporal fluctuations in plant isotopic composition associated with seasonal cycles of growth and environmental variability. In 1990, 1992, and 1998-2000, a total of 868 samples were collected and analyzed to determine carbon and...

DTSGUI DTSGUI

DTSGUI is a public-domain software tool to import, manage, parse/cull, georeference, analyze and visualize fiber-optic distributed temperature sensor (FO-DTS) data. Visualization can efficiently be accomplished in the form of heat maps of temperature (as color) versus distance and time, and in map view plots of georeferenced data on land-surface orthoimagery. The code is written in...
