Web Tools

The USGS Water Resources Mission Area provides water information that is fundamental to national and local economic well-being, protection of life and property, and effective management of the Nation’s water resources. Below, find data and tools relevant to a wide range of water resources and conditions including streamflow, groundwater, water quality, and water use and availability.

Water Availability in the United States

This interactive website highlights key scientific findings of the National Water Availability Assessment report through engaging stories, plain-language explanations, and interactive data visualizations.

National Water Availability Assessment Data Companion

The National Water Availability Assessment Data Companion (NWDC) delivers model-based estimates of water supply and demand.

PeakFQ

The PeakFQ application performs peak-flow frequency analysis to evaluate flood frequency on rivers and streams.

Fairfax Water Quality Dashboard

The Fairfax Water Quality Dashboard provides access to water quality data from 6 intensive monitoring stations and 15 trend monitoring stations in Fairfax County.

Groundwater Climate Response Network Mapper

The USGS Groundwater Climate Response Network (CRN) is a system of wells and springs selected to monitor the effects of climate variability on groundwater systems nationwide.

Integrated Data and Tools Catalog

The Integrated Data and Tools Catalog is an online platform that allows modelers and researchers to explore and share datasets, tools and services, and use cases used by Water Resources Mission Area (WMA) projects to advance water science activities.

Transboundary Watersheds Geonarrative

Explore the geonarrative highlighting USGS research activities in transboundary watersheds in the northwest. The USGS is establishing baseline water quality conditions in rivers that cross the US-Canadian border.

Water bottling across the U.S.

This Web Tool explores the count of water bottling facilities across the U.S. Facility types include bottled water facilities, breweries, distilleries, ice facilities, soft drink manufacturing plants, and wineries. Reported volumes withdrawn (water use) for bottled water facilities are also explored for the small number of facilities for which data are currently available.

Baseflow Forecasts for Selected Sites in the United States

The Baseflow Forecast Web Tool allows you to access baseflow forecasts at thousands of locations across the Nation.

Concentration data for 12 elements of concern in surface water of three hydrologic basins (Delaware River, Illinois River and Upper Colorado River) – A data visualization tool

This data visualization and exploration tool was designed as part of the USGS WMA Proxies Project. It provides surface water concentration data associated with 12 elements of concern (Al, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Pb, Se, U, Zn) in a geospatial framework spanning three hydrologic basins (Delaware River, Illinois River, and the Upper Colorado River).

Catalog of Geospatial Datasets for the USGS Water Quality Program, Proxies Project

The Proxies Project is a series of studies to improve our understanding of water contaminants and water quality hazards. These studies develop models and technical approaches for estimating concentrations and assessing risk associated with: - harmful algal blooms (HABs) - per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) -12 elements of concern (EoC) The Proxies Project is a series of studies to impro
