Streamflow and Surface Water-quality Data to Support the Assessment of the French Broad River During Highway Construction in Western North Carolina, 2019-2022 Streamflow and Surface Water-quality Data to Support the Assessment of the French Broad River During Highway Construction in Western North Carolina, 2019-2022

This Data Release serves as a companion to the USGS Scientific Investigations Report titled "Streamflow Characterization and Effects of Highway Construction on Water-quality and Channel Morphology of the French Broad River near Highway Construction in Buncombe and Henderson Counties, North Carolina, 2019-2022" (Stillwell and others, 2026). Two tables of data are included in this Data...

Lake Ontario Lake Trout Gillnet Survey 1983-2025 Lake Ontario Lake Trout Gillnet Survey 1983-2025

This data release includes Lake Ontario gillnet catch and biological data from individual fish from the Lake Ontario adult lake trout survey, from 1983 to 2025. Data from gillnets fished in Canadian waters are included from 1985 to 1995, 2008, and 2024. Details about the vessel and gear descriptions, sampling protocols, and fish processing protocols are provided in the associated...

Feeding Behavior of Polar Bears at Bowhead Whale Remains on Barter Island Feeding Behavior of Polar Bears at Bowhead Whale Remains on Barter Island

This dataset consists of a single table of data collected from video of polar bears feeding at remains of subsistence harvested bowhead whales on Barter Island. The table includes focal observations of individual bears to record the type of whale tissue consumed (blubber, muscle, etc.) and the number of bites taken by bears from food items over periods of 30 seconds to 12 minutes.

Feeding Rates Measured in Zoo Polar Bears Feeding Rates Measured in Zoo Polar Bears

This dataset consists of a single table of feeding trial data collected from 18 polar bears at zoos in the United States and Europe. Bears were fed meat on or off bone, fat, and ground meat. The duration of feeding, amount of food consumed, and number of bites taken were recorded.

GPS Tracking Metadata for Caribou (Rangifer tarandus) from the Central Arctic Herd, Alaska, 2015-2021 GPS Tracking Metadata for Caribou (Rangifer tarandus) from the Central Arctic Herd, Alaska, 2015-2021

GPS collar location data were collected as part of a study on migratory, barren-ground caribou (Rangifer tarandus) in the Central Arctic herd of Alaska. Data were collected in collaboration with Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG). Because ADFG has a statute (16.05.815) restricting the public release of specific animal locations for 25 years, we are only providing metadata about...

Polar Bear Location and Activity Data at Bowhead Whale Remains on the Southern Beaufort Sea Coast Polar Bear Location and Activity Data at Bowhead Whale Remains on the Southern Beaufort Sea Coast

These data contain two tables of summarized activity sensor and location data of 29 polar bears that fed at bowhead whale remains left by subsistence hunters. Remains occurred on Barter and Cross Islands on the northern coast of Alaska. Activity sensor data were collected from 6 bears using tri-axial accelerometers. The data are presented in two tables providing a summary of all...

Data Used to Calculate Flow Logs for Wells on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, 2024 Data Used to Calculate Flow Logs for Wells on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, 2024

This dataset contains velocity and flow log data collected in 2024 for water production wells (PW) located on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, PW-2602 and PW-2604. Data were collected using the tracer-pulse method described in Izbicki and others (1999), in which a pulse of a rhodamine dye tracer is injected to a known depth in an operating well and the travel time of the tracer to a...

RECOVER indicator regions in the Everglades Depth Estimation Network RECOVER indicator regions in the Everglades Depth Estimation Network

The Restoration, Coordination, and Verification (RECOVER) program is a collaboration among federal and state agencies, Tribes, and other institutions that conduct and guide scientific research for Everglades restoration in southern Florida. RECOVER members evaluate restoration plans and designs and assess real-world environmental conditions. One of the tools used by the RECOVER program...

Hyperspectral and Thermal Data Collected during Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) Operations near Moab, Utah in May 2025 Hyperspectral and Thermal Data Collected during Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) Operations near Moab, Utah in May 2025

In May 2025, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Uncrewed Systems Office (NUSO) conducted uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) flights to collect hyperspectral and thermal remote sensing imagery over dryland sites during a collaborative field campaign near Moab, Utah. Two sites, "Horsethief Campground" and "Salt Valley", which have differing vegetation and soil characteristics, were...

Oceanographic and Water-Quality Measurements--Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland, 2011 (ver. 1.1, September 2015) Oceanographic and Water-Quality Measurements--Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland, 2011 (ver. 1.1, September 2015)

Suspended-sediment transport is a critical element governing the geomorphology of tidal marshes. Marshes rely both on organic material and inorganic sediment deposition to maintain their elevation relative to sea-level. In wetlands near the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, MD, portions of the salt marsh have been subsiding relative to sea level since the early 20th century. Other...

High resolution natural color, thermal, and multispectral imagery collected by uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) for mapping vegetation health and natural spring change at Hoxworth Springs, Clark Well and Buck Springs in the Coconino National Forest, AZ, 202 High resolution natural color, thermal, and multispectral imagery collected by uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) for mapping vegetation health and natural spring change at Hoxworth Springs, Clark Well and Buck Springs in the Coconino National Forest, AZ, 202

The U.S. Geological Survey collected low-altitude airborne natural color imagery, surface temperatures and multispectral imagery via a hexacopter uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) for mapping Hoxworth Springs, Clark Well and Buck Springs in the Coconino National Forest in Arizona. Visual imagery was collected in jpg (for color imagery) and TIFF (for thermal imagery and multispectral imagery...

Luminescence data for: Springtime Formation of Laminated Soil Carbonate Rinds and Changes in Fluvial Terrace Soils on Orbital Timescales at Rio Mesa, Utah, USA Luminescence data for: Springtime Formation of Laminated Soil Carbonate Rinds and Changes in Fluvial Terrace Soils on Orbital Timescales at Rio Mesa, Utah, USA

Laminated soil carbonate rinds are a Quaternary paleoclimate archive whose isotope composition is linked to soil formation conditions. At Rio Mesa, Utah (USA), we investigated the fidelity of rind records in a river terrace setting by determining the seasonal timing of rind formation and testing for inter-record replication. We infer soil carbonate formed in the spring season...
