Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

U.S. Geological Survey Wastewater Diffuser Survey in Cedar Falls, Iowa, September 2024 U.S. Geological Survey Wastewater Diffuser Survey in Cedar Falls, Iowa, September 2024
These data represent a Global Positioning System (GPS) survey generated September 18, 2024, using Trimble R10 2 Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Survey extends along the Cedar River streambed in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where a wastewater treatment diffuser pipe is installed. Cross-sectional representations were produced to depict stream depth and...
Annual National Land Cover Database (NLCD) Collection 1 Products (ver. 1.1, June 2025) Annual National Land Cover Database (NLCD) Collection 1 Products (ver. 1.1, June 2025)
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)’s Land Cover program has leveraged methodologies from legacy land cover projects - National Land Cover Database (NLCD) and Land Change Monitoring, Assessment, and Projection (LCMAP) - together with modern innovations in geospatial deep learning technologies to create the next generation of land cover and land change information. The product suite is...
Argon ages near Parker, AZ, and Needles, CA Argon ages near Parker, AZ, and Needles, CA
Reported here are argon age data for samples collected to better understand lower Colorado River corridor landscape evolution, the history of the Colorado River, and define the age of geologic units being mapped. Samples of basalts, ashes, and sand were collected in the Cactus Plain southeast of Parker, AZ, the Whipple Mountain piedmont north-northwest of Parker, AZ and washes east...
Patuxent River Basin Environmental Variable Rasters: Climate, Topography, Land Use and Land Cover Patuxent River Basin Environmental Variable Rasters: Climate, Topography, Land Use and Land Cover
Natural resource managers worldwide grapple with protecting aquatic environments and species in the face of intensifying land use and climatic changes. The hierarchical landscape theory suggests that a species distribution is impacted by multiple series of environmental factors affecting the species at multiple spatial resolutions. For a species to inhabit an area, it must pass through...
MODFLOW 6 Groundwater Flow Model for the Des Moines River Alluvial Aquifer near Des Moines, Iowa MODFLOW 6 Groundwater Flow Model for the Des Moines River Alluvial Aquifer near Des Moines, Iowa
Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) is a regional municipal water utility that supplies residential and commercial water resources to about 600,000 customers in Des Moines, Iowa, and surrounding municipalities in central Iowa. DMWW has identified a need for increased water supply and is exploring the potential for expanding groundwater production capabilities in the Des Moines River alluvial...
Volcanic ash geochemistry and leachate analyses from the 2008 opening of Halemaʻumaʻu crater, Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaiʻi Volcanic ash geochemistry and leachate analyses from the 2008 opening of Halemaʻumaʻu crater, Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaiʻi
On March 19, 2008, an explosive eruption occurred at the summit of Kīlauea Volcano for the first time since 1924. This event marked the beginning of a continuous summit eruption that lasted until the 2018 Kīlauea lower East Rift Zone eruption (Neal and others, 2019). The March 19 explosive eruption excavated a crater approximately 35 meters wide and scattered volcanic tephra over a 30...
Archive of Bank Stability and Toe Erosion Model (BSTEM) Simulations of Caulks Creek, Wildwood, Missour Archive of Bank Stability and Toe Erosion Model (BSTEM) Simulations of Caulks Creek, Wildwood, Missour
The Bank Stability and Toe Erosion Model (BSTEM) version 3.3.1 (Ursic and Langendoen, 2021) was used to predict bank retreat at five locations along Caulks Creek, Wildwood, Missouri, for a selection of design storm scenarios. BSTEM is a macro-enabled Excel spreadsheet (.xlsm file) that simulates the retreat of a bank profile due to a combination of fluvial and geotechnical processes...
High resolution double-difference relocations of earthquakes in and offshore Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands during the deployment of ocean bottom seismometers from mid-2015 to mid-2016 High resolution double-difference relocations of earthquakes in and offshore Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands during the deployment of ocean bottom seismometers from mid-2015 to mid-2016
Puerto Rico is a Caribbean Island with a population of about 3.2 million people who are exposed to natural hazards including earthquakes and submarine landslides that can generate tsunamis. Previous work has shown seismicity offshore Puerto Rico especially between the coastline and the Puerto Rico Trench north of the island. The Puerto Rico Seismic Network maintains the local seismic...
Highway-Runoff Database (HRDB) Version 1.2.0 Highway-Runoff Database (HRDB) Version 1.2.0
The Highway-Runoff Database (HRDB) was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Project Delivery and Environmental Review to provide planning-level information for decision makers, planners, and highway engineers to assess and mitigate possible adverse effects of highway runoff on the Nation's receiving waters...
Occupancy surveys near Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus) nest sites and random locations between 2018 and 2022 along the central Oregon coast, USA Occupancy surveys near Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus) nest sites and random locations between 2018 and 2022 along the central Oregon coast, USA
There are four data tables (csv documents) provided here which are formatted according to tidy data principles. We identified sites centered on known murrelet nest trees (nest sites) and on randomly selected trees (control sites) and the first table contains variables that vary at the site level. Each site had up to three stations where occupancy surveys were collected, so the second...
Mean annual water-budget components for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi for a set of recent and future climate conditions, and 2020 land cover Mean annual water-budget components for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi for a set of recent and future climate conditions, and 2020 land cover
The shapefiles in this dataset represent the spatial distribution of mean annual water-budget components, in inches, for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi, for a set of recent and future climate conditions, and 2020 land cover. The four main climate scenarios used in the water-budget analyses include a reference climate scenario representative of recent...
Ecological resilience and resistance across the sagebrush biome under ambient and projected climate conditions Ecological resilience and resistance across the sagebrush biome under ambient and projected climate conditions
These data were compiled to provide a quantitative, spatially explicit estimate of ecological resilience and resistance (R&R) under ambient and projected future climate conditions. Objective of our study was to understand where and why climate change will alter the distribution of ecological resilience and resistance in the sagebrush biome throughout the 21st century. To accomplish this...
