Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Sediment Sample Data for Identifying and Monitoring Source Sediment Fingerprints within Stony Clove Creek, Catskills, NY from 2017 to 2020 Sediment Sample Data for Identifying and Monitoring Source Sediment Fingerprints within Stony Clove Creek, Catskills, NY from 2017 to 2020
This data release includes five comma delimited tables that support a pilot study on identifying and monitoring source sediment fingerprints within Stony Clove Creek, Catskills, NY. These tables consist of sediment particle size information, elemental analysis results, stable isotope analysis results, and percent fines for the samples collected. "SourceSamples_Info.csv" and...
Estimated low-flow statistics at ungaged stream locations in New Jersey, water year 2021 Estimated low-flow statistics at ungaged stream locations in New Jersey, water year 2021
Estimates of various low-flow statistics were computed at 66 ungaged stream locations throughout New Jersey during the 2021 water year using methods in the published reports, 1) Streamflow characteristics and trends in New Jersey, water years 1897-2003 (Watson and others, 2005) and 2) Implementation of MOVE.1, censored MOVE.1, and piecewise MOVE.1 low-flow regressions with applications...
MODFLOW-NWT and MODPATH groundwater flow models of steady-state conditions in coastal Connecticut and adjacent areas of New York and Rhode Island, as well as a nitrogen transport model of the Niantic River watershed MODFLOW-NWT and MODPATH groundwater flow models of steady-state conditions in coastal Connecticut and adjacent areas of New York and Rhode Island, as well as a nitrogen transport model of the Niantic River watershed
A steady-state groundwater flow model, using MODFLOW-NWT, was developed to better understand groundwater flow in coastal Connecticut and adjacent areas of New York and Rhode Island. Aquatic systems in and around Long Island Sound (LIS) provide a variety of ecological and economic benefits such as flood and storm protection, water filtration, recreation, habitat for commercially and...
Summary simulated groundwater budgets and travel times for watersheds on the north shore of Long Island Sound Summary simulated groundwater budgets and travel times for watersheds on the north shore of Long Island Sound
A steady-state groundwater flow model was developed for watersheds on the north shore of Long Island Sound in coastal Connecticut and adjacent areas of New York and Rhode Island. As part of the analysis, groundwater travel times and the components of the groundwater budget were calculated for each HUC12 basin within the model domain and for the watersheds of selected embayments...
Peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages on tributaries of the Bighorn, Tongue, and Lower Yellowstone Rivers, based on data through water year 2021 Peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages on tributaries of the Bighorn, Tongue, and Lower Yellowstone Rivers, based on data through water year 2021
The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY–MT WSC) completed a report (Sando and McCarthy, 2018) documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines. The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 66.7-, 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for...
Code to Analyze Occupancy Data for Dixie Valley Toads, Anaxyrus williamsi in Churchill County, Nevada from 2018 to 2021 Code to Analyze Occupancy Data for Dixie Valley Toads, Anaxyrus williamsi in Churchill County, Nevada from 2018 to 2021
-R code to create and fit dynamic occupancy models to Dixie Valley Toad survey data in JAGS and produce useful summaries of model results. This script will perform the Gibbs Variable Selection (GVS) using the initial set of environmental covariates, and then fit the "final" model using only important environmental covariates. The dynamic occupancy model is adapted from the model...
Mercury Concentrations and Loads in United States and Canadian Tributaries of Lake Superior Mercury Concentrations and Loads in United States and Canadian Tributaries of Lake Superior
In 2021, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Mercury Research Laboratory (MRL) conducted a large-scale assessment of mercury (Hg) concentrations and Hg stable isotope values in tributaries of Lake Superior in order to define the sources and amounts of Hg entering the lake. Water samples were collected monthly from 18 tributaries in the United States from April through October in 2021 and...
Model performance and output variables for phenological events across land cover types in the Northwestern Plains, 1989-2014 Model performance and output variables for phenological events across land cover types in the Northwestern Plains, 1989-2014
Many aspects of recurring plant developmental events – vegetation phenology – are measured by remote sensing. By consistently measuring the timing and magnitude of the growing season, it is possible to study the complex relationships among drivers of the seasonal cycle of vegetation, including legacy conditions. We studied the role of current and legacy climate, and contextual factors on...
Pre-mining environmental baseline characterization of the Hajigak iron deposit: 2019 field season Pre-mining environmental baseline characterization of the Hajigak iron deposit: 2019 field season
These data include geochemical analyses of rock, mine waste, sediment, soil, and water samples collected from the Hajigak iron deposit, Bamyan and Wardak Provinces, Afghanistan in 2019.
Data release for the lower seismogenic depth model of western U.S. earthquakes Data release for the lower seismogenic depth model of western U.S. earthquakes
A model of the lower seismogenic depth distribution of earthquakes in the western United States was developed to support models for seismic hazard assessment that will be included in the 2023 USGS National Seismic Hazard Model. This data release presents a recalibration using the hypocentral depths of events M>1 from the Advanced National Seismic System Comprehensive Earthquake Catalog...

Surface time for sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico, 2010-2019 Surface time for sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico, 2010-2019
This dataset contains surface dive times, defined as 0-2 m in the water column, for three species of sea turtles (Kemp's ridleys, loggerheads, and green turtles) tracked via satellite telemetry in the Gulf of Mexico during periods within 2010-2019. It contains information on turtle species, location, proportion of time in "surface" bins, region of the Gulf of Mexico, corresponding...
