Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Interactive PHREEQ-N-Titration-PO4-Adsorption water-quality modeling tools to evaluate potential attenuation of phosphate and associated dissolved constituents by aqueous-solid equilibrium processes (software download) Interactive PHREEQ-N-Titration-PO4-Adsorption water-quality modeling tools to evaluate potential attenuation of phosphate and associated dissolved constituents by aqueous-solid equilibrium processes (software download)

Two complementary executable water-quality modeling tools (CausticTitration_PO4mg.exe, CausticTitration_PO4moles.exe) simulate equilibrium processes that may attenuate dissolved concentrations of phosphate (PO4) plus associated concentrations of iron (Fe), aluminum (Al), manganese (Mn), calcium (Ca), and sulfate (SO4) as pH and other solution characteristics change during titration with...

Xenopus metamorphosis after neonicotinoid exposure Xenopus metamorphosis after neonicotinoid exposure

Xenopus laevis tadpoles were held in 4 replicate vivaria for each of 4 treatments of neonicotinoid pesticides and one control treatment for at least one month (Control media, thiamethoxam high concentration of 100 ppm, thiamethoxam low concentrations of 20 ppm, clothianidin high concentrations of 100 ppm, and clothianidin low concentration of 20 ppm). Water was sampled for chemical...

Suspended-sediment concentration and turbidity data for sites in the upper Esopus Creek watershed New York, 2016-19 Suspended-sediment concentration and turbidity data for sites in the upper Esopus Creek watershed New York, 2016-19

The upper Esopus Creek is the primary tributary to the Ashokan Reservoir, part of the New York City (NYC) water supply system. Suspended-sediment concentration (ssc) and turbidity are primary water-quality concerns in the NYC water-supply system, particularly in the upper Esopus Creek watershed. In 2016 the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Geological Survey entered...

Biological variables and liver and testes transcript abundance from smallmouth bass sampled in the Lake Erie drainage, Pennsylvania (2016) Biological variables and liver and testes transcript abundance from smallmouth bass sampled in the Lake Erie drainage, Pennsylvania (2016)

In 2016, smallmouth bass were collected from three sites in the Lake Erie drainage in Erie County, Pennsylvania and an out-of-basin site in the Allegheny River drainage in order to assess reproductive health and identify endocrine disruption responses. Pieces of liver and gonad were taken in Z-Fix and RNALater for histology and transcript abundance analysis. A landscape analysis was...

Puerto Rico shoreline change: A GIS compilation of shorelines, baselines, intersects, and change rates calculated using the Digital Shoreline Analysis system version 5.1 (ver. 2.0, March 2023) Puerto Rico shoreline change: A GIS compilation of shorelines, baselines, intersects, and change rates calculated using the Digital Shoreline Analysis system version 5.1 (ver. 2.0, March 2023)

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) maintains shoreline positions for the United States coasts from both older sources, such as aerial photographs or topographic surveys, and contemporary sources, such as lidar-point clouds and digital elevation models. These shorelines are compiled and analyzed in the USGS Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS), version 5.1 software to calculate rates...
