qPCR Results for An Assessment of Pathogens in National Park Hot Springs qPCR Results for An Assessment of Pathogens in National Park Hot Springs

In 2018 and 2019, a multidisciplinary team from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Park Service, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Montana State University’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and the Teton Conservation District, initiated a study to document the presence or absence of Naegleria fowleri, Giardia, Escherichia coli, and

Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Hualapai Valley Irrigation Non-Expansion Area Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2023 Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Hualapai Valley Irrigation Non-Expansion Area Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2023

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Hualapai Valley Irrigation Non-Expansion Area Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ twice in 2023, first on May 10th and again on Sep 14th; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program County Mosaic 2023 imagery for...

Concentrations of microbial source tracking markers in cattle fecal samples, western Colorado, 2023 Concentrations of microbial source tracking markers in cattle fecal samples, western Colorado, 2023

The U.S. Geological Survey is investigating sources of fecal bacteria in streams in the Grand Valley of western Colorado by using quantitative polymerase chain reaction microbial source tracking (MST) markers. The CowM2 MST marker was not detected in water-quality samples collected in 2022, which raised questions about the use of the marker for investigations in western Colorado. The...

Bottom dissolved oxygen measurements from Lake Erie's Central Basin, 2023 Bottom dissolved oxygen measurements from Lake Erie's Central Basin, 2023

This data set, compiled by the USGS Lake Erie Biological Station, provides near-bottom measurements of temperature and dissolved oxygen for the Central Basin of Lake Erie. Data were recorded by self-contained environmental data loggers (PME, Inc., MiniDOT data loggers). The data loggers for 2023 were deployed to collect data during April 2023 through November 2023 to better understand...

Telemetry detections of hatchery reared Cisco in Lake Erie with reference to temperature and predation, 2021-2022 Telemetry detections of hatchery reared Cisco in Lake Erie with reference to temperature and predation, 2021-2022

Cisco (Coregonus artedi) have been extirpated from Lake Erie since the 1960s, but they once supported one of the largest Laurentian Great Lakes fisheries. Reintroduction may be beneficial to the Lake Erie fishery, but impediments for re-establishment are not fully understood. This data set aimed to use acoustic telemetry to investigate the thermal habitat use and survival of hatchery...

Mercury Stable Isotope Assessment of Dragonflies and Fish Tissues across United States National Parks Mercury Stable Isotope Assessment of Dragonflies and Fish Tissues across United States National Parks

This dataset details mercury (Hg) stable isotope values in dragonflies and fish tissues collected across U.S. National Parks. Dragonfly samples were collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (https://geonarrative.usgs.gov/dmp/), a citizen science project focused on using dragonfly larvae as biosentinels for Hg bioaccumulation. Fish were collected as part of separate park-wide...

Total organic carbon and programmed temperature pyrolysis data for the Bakken Formation, Williston Basin, USA Total organic carbon and programmed temperature pyrolysis data for the Bakken Formation, Williston Basin, USA

One hundred ninety-six black shale samples of the Late Devonian-Early Mississippian Bakken Formation were selected from eight drill cores located in Montana and North Dakota, USA. Samples were powdered and total organic carbon and programmed temperature pyrolysis analysis were performed at the U.S. Geological Survey Petroleum Geochemistry Research Laboratory in Denver, CO following...

Chirp Sub-Bottom Profile Geophysical Data Collected in 2014 From Fire Island, New York Chirp Sub-Bottom Profile Geophysical Data Collected in 2014 From Fire Island, New York

As part of the Hurricane Sandy Supplemental Project (GS2-2B), scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (SPCMSC) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) conducted a nearshore geophysical survey to characterize the stratigraphy of the shoreface and inner shelf near Fire Island, New York (NY) in June and July 2014. The purpose of...

Digital data for 3-D Geologic Framework and Textural Models for Cuyama Valley Groundwater Basin, California Digital data for 3-D Geologic Framework and Textural Models for Cuyama Valley Groundwater Basin, California

This digital dataset was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study in cooperation with the Santa Barbara County Water Agency to conduct a hydrologic resource assessment and develop an integrated numerical hydrologic model of the hydrologic system of Cuyama Valley, CA. As part of this larger study, the USGS developed this digital dataset of geologic data and three-dimensional...

Digital Data from Previously Published Contour Data Showing the Altitude of the Base of Dakota Sandstone on the Colorado Plateau, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah Digital Data from Previously Published Contour Data Showing the Altitude of the Base of Dakota Sandstone on the Colorado Plateau, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah

This geologic map database compiles, in digital form, geologic data previously published as printed maps showing the altitude of the base of Dakota Sandstone and equivalent rocks on the Colorado Plateau in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Data were compiled from U.S. Geological Survey 1:250,000-scale geologic maps and other topical maps that included structure contours of the...

Pesticide Concentrations Measured in Zooplankton Samples Collected from the Sacramento River, Yolo Bypass, and Cache Slough Region, California, 2022 and 2023 Pesticide Concentrations Measured in Zooplankton Samples Collected from the Sacramento River, Yolo Bypass, and Cache Slough Region, California, 2022 and 2023

Zooplankton samples were collected in the summer/fall of 2022 and 2023 at multiple sites in the Sacramento River, Yolo Bypass, and Cache Slough Region of California and analyzed for a suite of 160 current-use pesticides and pesticide degradates by the U.S. Geological Survey Organic Chemistry Research Laboratory. In 2022 samples were collected at two sites in the Bypass and at a...

Underwater Photogrammetry Products of Looe Key, Florida From Images Acquired Using the SQUID-5 System in July 2022 Underwater Photogrammetry Products of Looe Key, Florida From Images Acquired Using the SQUID-5 System in July 2022

Underwater images were collected using a towed-surface vehicle with multiple downward-looking underwater cameras developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The system is named the Structure-from-Motion (SfM) Quantitative Underwater Imaging Device with Five Cameras (SQUID-5). The raw images and associated navigation data were collected at Looe key, a coral reef located within the...
