Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Surveying Southern Lake Ontario Embayments For The Presence Of Cisco 2015-2021 Surveying Southern Lake Ontario Embayments For The Presence Of Cisco 2015-2021
Individual gill net collection sites for fish community assemblage including Cisco in Southern Lake Ontario Embayments were recorded. Fish community assemblages including Cisco was assessed using multi-panel gill nets fished overnight to determine where Cisco were residing. Total fish community was recorded with observational recording of fish species, fish total length (mm), and water...
Genesee River Lake Sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) Capture Data (2016-2025) Genesee River Lake Sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) Capture Data (2016-2025)
Since 2003, an ongoing research project has been conducted in the Genesee River, New York regarding lake sturgeon reintroduction techniques. This project's applied technique involved the release of age-0 hatchery reared juveniles into historic tributary habitat. One goal of this long-term reintroduction project was to document the return of adult lake sturgeon for spawning after more...
Hydrus-1D simulations of vertical water and chloride fluxes in shallow soils near breccia pipe uranium mines, Mojave County, Arizona Hydrus-1D simulations of vertical water and chloride fluxes in shallow soils near breccia pipe uranium mines, Mojave County, Arizona
A study was conducted of mixed-metal transport of dissolved versus solid phases in shallow soils at four semi-arid, breccia-pipe uranium mine sites in Mojave County, Arizona. As a part of that study, multi-decadal Hydrus-1D models (Šimůnek and others, 2009) were applied at each site to evaluate the potential for downward movement of water. A one-dimensional vertical profile of the...
Global seafloor massive sulfide prospective regions Global seafloor massive sulfide prospective regions
A global shapefile delineating prospectivity regions for seafloor massive sulfides (SMS), also known as polymetallic sulfides, was developed to identify seabed regions permissive for hydrothermal sulfide mineralization. The dataset classifies regions according to their relative prospectivity for SMS mineralization using geological and oceanographic parameters, including evidence of...
USGS National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) Data Revision for the Wastewater - Filtered Indicators method, dated March 19, 2018 - August 9, 2022 USGS National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) Data Revision for the Wastewater - Filtered Indicators method, dated March 19, 2018 - August 9, 2022
This revised dataset was created by the National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) in Lakewood, CO for the Wastewater Indicators (WWI) in filtered water by solid phase extraction, gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS) method known as Lab Schedule 1433 and covers the dates from March 19, 2018 to August 9, 2022. All data for Lab Schedule 1433 are included from the listed date range and...
Ahyi Seamount Eruption Chronology Ahyi Seamount Eruption Chronology
This presents the observational chronology of eruptions of Ahyi Seamount. Data include USGS information products released for these eruptions, a summary of plumes of discolored water noted in moderate to high resolution satellite imagery back to 1999, and hydroacoustic detections from the direction of Ahyi Seamount from the Wake Island hydrophone array back to 2015.
Remote Observations of Surface Deformation for the M7.2 and M7.5 2026 Venezuela Earthquakes Remote Observations of Surface Deformation for the M7.2 and M7.5 2026 Venezuela Earthquakes
Summary: This Data Release contains surface deformation measurements resulting from the June 24, 2026, M7.2 and M7.5 Venezuela earthquakes (USGS, 2026). The earthquakes likely ruptured ~175-200 km of the Boconó and San Sebastián faults with right-lateral slip, but minimal discrete surface rupture has been identified to date. These data are based on rapid analysis of available satellite...
Seismic reflection profiles across the Puente Hills fault zone, Los Angeles, California Seismic reflection profiles across the Puente Hills fault zone, Los Angeles, California
This data release contains seismic reflection profiles acquired across the Puente Hills fault zone, Los Angeles, California. The data are high-resolution seismic reflection profiles acquired with mini-sosie (earth tamper), sledgehammer and truck-mounted mini-vibrators. Results are described in the paper: Anthonissen, C.J., L.A. Leon, F.D. Wolfe, J. Don, J.F. Dolan, J.H. Shaw, T.L. Pratt...
Data for analyzing Precariously Balanced Rocks (PBRs) in the northeastern U.S. to estimate maximum post-glacial ground motions Data for analyzing Precariously Balanced Rocks (PBRs) in the northeastern U.S. to estimate maximum post-glacial ground motions
This work describes the data used to characterize boulders and their pedestals in the northeastern U.S. (Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts), which are used to calculate maximum plausible earthquake magnitudes in the surrounding region as well as scaling factors for the 2023 time-independent National Seismic Hazard Model site-specific hazard curves (Petersen et al., 2024). The work...
Data for analyzing precariously balanced rocks at the Peaks of Otter, Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, to estimate maximum past ground motions Data for analyzing precariously balanced rocks at the Peaks of Otter, Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, to estimate maximum past ground motions
This work describes the data used to characterize boulders and their pedestals at the Peaks of Otter, southwest Virginia, which are used to calculate maximum plausible earthquake magnitudes in the surrounding region as well as scaling factors for the 2023 time-independent National Seismic Hazard Model site-specific hazard curves (Petersen et al., 2024). The work presents several new...
Marsh migration potential in response to sea-level rise in the northeastern United States Marsh migration potential in response to sea-level rise in the northeastern United States
Salt marshes are valuable ecosystems that may be able to migrate landward as sea level rises. This data release provides estimates of the marsh migration potential of salt marshes in the northeastern United States (Maine to Virginia), calculated in terms of the available migration area for each marsh unit, as defined by the US Geological Survey. The area available for landward migration...
Metaproteomic data associated with produced waters collected from the Antrim Shale in Michigan, 2024 Metaproteomic data associated with produced waters collected from the Antrim Shale in Michigan, 2024
This data release contains metaproteomics data related to produced water samples collected from natural gas wells completed in the Antrim Shale (Michigan basin, MI). These data can be used to investigate microbial community organic matter degradation and methanogenesis. Results include thousands of proteins with a wide range of different functions including organic matter degradation
