Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data release for Late glacial-Younger Dryas climate in interior Alaska as inferred from the isotope values of land snail shells Data release for Late glacial-Younger Dryas climate in interior Alaska as inferred from the isotope values of land snail shells
The isotopic values of fossil snail shells can be important archives of past climate. Here we present the first carbon (δ13C) and oxygen (δ18O) isotope values of radiocarbon-dated and live-collected snails in interior Alaska to explore changes in vegetation and humidity through the late glacial period (14-11.7 ka). Snail shell δ13C values were relatively consistent through the late...
Genotype Data for Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnakes (Sistrurus catenatus) from Bois Blanc Island, Michigan at 15 Microsatellite DNA Loci Genotype Data for Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnakes (Sistrurus catenatus) from Bois Blanc Island, Michigan at 15 Microsatellite DNA Loci
We investigated fine-scale genetic patterns of the federally threatened Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake (Sistrurus catenatus) on a relatively undisturbed island in northern Michigan, USA. This species often persists in habitat islands throughout much of its distribution due to extensive habitat loss and distance-limited dispersal. These data are from 102 individual Eastern Massasauga...
Predictions and supporting data for network-wide 7-day ahead forecasts of water temperature in the Delaware River Basin Predictions and supporting data for network-wide 7-day ahead forecasts of water temperature in the Delaware River Basin
Daily maximum water temperature predictions in the Delaware River Basin (DRB) can inform decision makers who can use cold-water reservoir releases to maintain thermal habitat for sensitive fish species. This data release contains the forcings and outputs of 7-day ahead maximum water temperature forecasting models that makes predictions at 70 river reaches in the upper DRB. The modeling...
Current-use pesticides in tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) prey Current-use pesticides in tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) prey
Analysis of biological tissues or direct sources of food may better characterize exposure of non-target organisms to current-use pesticides. Food boluses were collected from tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) nestlings using a non-lethal, ligature method and were composited based on nest. The ligatures, which prevented the bolus from being swallowed, were placed on nestlings for 1 h...

Water temperature in the Lower Missouri River and selected tributaries Water temperature in the Lower Missouri River and selected tributaries
This dataset documents locations of and water temperature recorded by Hobo Water Temp Pro series loggers (Onset Computer Corp., Bourne, MA) deployed by the USGS Comprehensive Sturgeon Research Project at up to 24 locations in the Lower Missouri River (from the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota to its confluence with the Mississippi River near St. Louis, Missouri) and 13...
Thalweg determination for three rivers in the Pacific Northwest, USA, 2023 Thalweg determination for three rivers in the Pacific Northwest, USA, 2023
In May 2023, the U.S. Geological Survey provided training for bathymetric data acquisition and processing for the Iraq Ministry of Water Resources. The training included multibeam sonar theory, survey planning, data collection and processing, and dissemination. This data release presents the raw survey data, a digital elevation model (DEM), and a thalweg shapefile for three survey areas...
CE-QUAL-W2 models for select U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoirs in the Willamette Valley Project and an inter-reservoir reach of the Middle Fork Willamette River, northwestern Oregon, 2011, 2015, and 2016 (ver. 1.1, May 2025) CE-QUAL-W2 models for select U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoirs in the Willamette Valley Project and an inter-reservoir reach of the Middle Fork Willamette River, northwestern Oregon, 2011, 2015, and 2016 (ver. 1.1, May 2025)
The Willamette Valley Project (WVP) is a system of revetments, fish hatcheries, and 13 dams in the Willamette Basin of northwestern Oregon that is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood risk management, irrigation, power generation, water quality improvement, and recreational opportunities, among other authorized purposes. By reducing available habitat and altering...
Map data from landslides triggered by Hurricane Maria in an area of Corozal, Puerto Rico Map data from landslides triggered by Hurricane Maria in an area of Corozal, Puerto Rico
In late September 2017, Hurricane Maria brought intense precipitation and extensive landsliding across Puerto Rico. Several landslide inventories have been completed for areas within the Puerto Rico archipelago following the hurricane. These inventories include Bessette-Kirton et al. (2017, 2019), Baxstrom (2021a, 2021b), and Einbund (2021a, 2021b). Here, we expand on this previous work...
Map data from landslides triggered by Hurricane Maria in select areas of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico Map data from landslides triggered by Hurricane Maria in select areas of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico
Hurricane Maria brought intense rainfall and caused widespread landsliding throughout Puerto Rico during September 2017. Previous detailed landslide inventories following the hurricane include Bessette-Kirton et al. (2017, 2019). Here we continue that work with an in-depth look at two areas in San Lorenzo, which is a municipality in the east-central part of the main island. To study a
Waterfowl GPS Observations in North America from 2015 to 2023 for Custom Wildlife Report Example for Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Waterfowl GPS Observations in North America from 2015 to 2023 for Custom Wildlife Report Example for Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge
To effectively manage species and habitats at multiple scales, land managers require rapid information on wildlife use of managed areas and responses to landscape conditions and management actions. Global positioning system (GPS) tracking studies of wildlife are particularly informative to species ecology, habitat use, and conservation. Combining GPS data with administrative data, would...
Lichens in the McKenzie River Watershed, Oregon, 1998-2000 Lichens in the McKenzie River Watershed, Oregon, 1998-2000
Data were collected to describe study site characteristics and epiphytic macrolichen abundance in upland and riparian forests in the McKenzie watershed in western Oregon. All plots were within the Central Cascades Adaptive Management Area. To describe the gradient from upland mountain forests below 1000 meters elevation down to riverine riparian forests we combined 62, 0.38 hectare plots...
