USGS EROS offers access to decades of satellite and aerial imagery through tools like EarthExplorer, GloVis, and the Commercial Cloud. Specialized portals support key datasets including Annual NLCD, LANDFIRE, and MTBS, enabling users to explore, visualize, and download geospatial data products. The LP DAAC provides NASA land data and tools to support analysis of land surface processes.

USGS EROS Archive

The EROS Archive includes satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and geospatial datasets dating back to the 1930s. Holdings include the entire Landsat satellite record, Annual NLCD, declassified satellite imagery, historical aerial imagery and more. For a full list of data products visit the EROS archive products overview webpage.

EROS Registration System (ERS):  An ERS Account is needed to access data from the USGS EROS Archive and is required to access many of the tools below.

EarthExplorer: EarthExplorer provides online search, browse display, metadata export, data download and processing support for earth science data from the USGS EROS archives.

Bulk Download Web Application (BDWA):BDWA is a web-based tool to bulk download satellite imagery and geospatial data from the USGS EROS archive.

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Application Programming Interface (API): The M2M API provides users with an option for accessing data from the USGS EROS archive programmatically.

Landsat Commercial Cloud Data Access The Landsat archive can also be accessed from the Commerical Cloud. Visit the data access webpage to learn more on accessing and exploring Landsat data in the AWS cloud platform.

EROS Science Processing Architecture On Demand Interface (ESPA): ESPA provides on-demand processing and customization services for Landsat science products.

Global Visualization Viewer (GloVis): GloVis is a web-based tool for viewing and downloading Landsat imagery. It provides an easy-to-use interface that allows users to visually browse image footprints and preview scenes before downloading.

Hazard Data Distribution System (HDDS) Explorer:  The HDDS Explorer is an event-based interface that provides a single point-of-entry for access to remotely sensed imagery and other geospatial datasets as they become available during a response.

USGS EROS Science Products

While many EROS-managed products are available through the USGS EROS Archive, some datasets are hosted on dedicated websites tailored to their specific data formats and user communities. These specialized portals provide additional tools, documentation, and download options that support the unique applications of each dataset.

Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics Consortium (MRLC) National Land Cover Database (NLCD) viewer: The MRLC NLCD Viewer provides a dynamic platform for data visualization of the Annual NLCD product suite and supports user defined data subsetting and downloads.

MRLC NLCD Enhanced Visualization and Analysis (EVA) Tool: MRLC NLCD EVA Tool provides users with detailed county statistics for any two Annual NLCD landcover dates to support quick and powerful change analyses

MRLC Rangeland Viewer: The MRLC Rangeland Viewer provides a dynamic platform for visualization and comparison of multi-temporal geospatial data of shrub and grassland ecosystems in the Western U.S. and supports custom data subsetting and downloads.

LANDFIRE viewer:  The LANDFIRE Viewer is an interactive online map that lets users explore nationwide data on vegetation, wildland fire fuels, and land changes. Also allows the user to download specific area of interest for the different products.

Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) Viewer: The MTBS Viewer is an interactive online map that allows users to explore and download nationwide data on burned areas boundaries and burn severity.

Coastal National Elevation Database (CoNED) Project Viewer: The CoNED Project Viewer is an interactive, map-based tool developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) that allows users to explore and download high-resolution topobathymetric digital elevation models

FEWS NET Data Portal: The FEWS NET Data Portal provides access to geo-spatial data, satellite image products, and derived data products in support of FEWS NET drought monitoring efforts throughout the world.

USGS ScienceBase: ScienceBase is a platform that stores and shares EROS data products, providing open access to well-documented, science-quality datasets.

Land Process Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC)

The LP DAAC operates as a partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and is a component of NASA’s Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS).

Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS): AppEEARS provides a simple and user-friendly way to access and transform geospatial data. It enables users to efficiently subset data spatially, temporally, and by layer, significantly reducing the volume of data downloaded for analysis. Available as a web tool or API.

NASA Earthdata Search: Earthdata Search enables data discovery, search, comparison, visualization, and access across NASA's Earth science data holdings.

LP DAAC Data Pool: The LPDAAC Data Pool contains the publicly available portion of the LP DAAC on-premises holdings. Data Pool provides a direct way to access on-prem data product files via HTTPS.
