Factors affecting the spatial distribution of Niangua Darters (Etheostoma nianguae) in the Osage River basin, Missouri, USA, 2010-2011 Factors affecting the spatial distribution of Niangua Darters (Etheostoma nianguae) in the Osage River basin, Missouri, USA, 2010-2011
These data include information from 74 sampled stream reaches in the Osage Ecological Drainage Unit (EDU) within the Osage River Basin, Missouri. Streams with a Strahler order from three to six were systematically sampled to assess Niangua darter resource selection across three spatial scales macrohabitat, reach, and watershed scale. Variables used to explain Niangua darter presence at...
Feeding Behavior of Polar Bears at Bowhead Whale Remains on Barter Island Feeding Behavior of Polar Bears at Bowhead Whale Remains on Barter Island
This dataset consists of a single table of data collected from video of polar bears feeding at remains of subsistence harvested bowhead whales on Barter Island. The table includes focal observations of individual bears to record the type of whale tissue consumed (blubber, muscle, etc.) and the number of bites taken by bears from food items over periods of 30 seconds to 12 minutes.
Feeding Rates Measured in Zoo Polar Bears Feeding Rates Measured in Zoo Polar Bears
This dataset consists of a single table of feeding trial data collected from 18 polar bears at zoos in the United States and Europe. Bears were fed meat on or off bone, fat, and ground meat. The duration of feeding, amount of food consumed, and number of bites taken were recorded.
Field and Laboratory Data for the Sheep Creek and Arentson Gulch Trench Sites, Lost River Fault Zone, Idaho Field and Laboratory Data for the Sheep Creek and Arentson Gulch Trench Sites, Lost River Fault Zone, Idaho
This data release includes field observations and laboratory data for two trenches excavated across the Lost River fault zone, Idaho, in September 2019. The field sites include the Sheep Creek site (44.282541 degrees N, 113.941193 degrees W) on the southernmost Warm Springs section and the Arentson Gulch site (44.247816 degrees N, 113.918554 degrees W) on the northernmost Thousand...
Field Observations of Surface Rupture and Fault Displacement in the 2023 Mw 7.8 Pazarcık, Türkiye Earthquake Field Observations of Surface Rupture and Fault Displacement in the 2023 Mw 7.8 Pazarcık, Türkiye Earthquake
Field observations of surface rupture extent and fault displacement are critical to improving our understanding of rupture processes in the 6 February 2023 earthquakes in the Kahramanmaraş region of Türkiye. This data release includes two primary datasets depicting the 2023 moment magnitude (Mw) 7.8 Pazarcık, Türkiye earthquake rupture: 1) surface rupture mapping (lines) and 2)...
Field surveillance and sentinel exposures to detect Ceratonova shasta in Chinook Salmon from the Lake Washington watershed Field surveillance and sentinel exposures to detect Ceratonova shasta in Chinook Salmon from the Lake Washington watershed
Ceratomyxosis, characterized by enteritis, enteronecrosis, and abdominal distension, is caused by the myxozoan parasite Ceratonova shasta. Ceratonova shasta is capable of infecting a range of salmonids, including Chinook salmon, often resulting in increased morbidity and mortality in infected populations. Ceratonova shasta is endemic in the Pacific Northwest, however there is limited data...
Field Testing a novel Bioherbicide on Invasive Phragmites in Southeast Michigan (2022) Field Testing a novel Bioherbicide on Invasive Phragmites in Southeast Michigan (2022)
This dataset represents data collected during field trials testing a novel bioherbicide solution on the invasive wetland plant Phragmites australis in the summer of 2022. The bioherbicide solution composed of naturally derived ingredients (arginine, sucrose, citrus oil, and water) is intended to target microbial communities associated with Phragmites to induce stress and reduce the...
Field water-quality (vertical profile) and fish tissue data from Boneau and Williamson Reservoirs, Chippewa Cree Tribe, Rocky Boy's Reservation, near Box Elder, Montana, May and September 2022 Field water-quality (vertical profile) and fish tissue data from Boneau and Williamson Reservoirs, Chippewa Cree Tribe, Rocky Boy's Reservation, near Box Elder, Montana, May and September 2022
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Chippewa Cree Indians of the Rocky Boy's Reservation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, collected water-quality and fish tissue samples from Boneau and Williamson Reservoirs on the Rock Boy's Reservation in north-central Montana. Water samples were collected in May and September 2022 from three sites on Boneau...
Field-Based Raw Meteorological Station Data for the Los Planes basin in Baja California Sur, Mexico from July 2023 through March 2026 Field-Based Raw Meteorological Station Data for the Los Planes basin in Baja California Sur, Mexico from July 2023 through March 2026
Ground-based field monitoring meteorological stations are used to collect real-time weather and environmental data. Data parameters range from weather variables (i.e., precipitation, wind speed and direction, air temperature, relative humidity, dew point), to environmental variables (i.e., solar radiation, air density, soil conductivity), to station status data (i.e., battery voltage...
Final report on range-wide relative abundance of Appalachian Grizzled Skipper Final report on range-wide relative abundance of Appalachian Grizzled Skipper
The dataset contains information on where the Appalachia Grizzled Skippers (AGS) were found, by state and date (2021-2024). Dataset also provides weather information at time of survey, and duration of survey.
