Rangeland Ecosystem Data, Grand Canyon - Parashant National Monument, AZ, USA Rangeland Ecosystem Data, Grand Canyon - Parashant National Monument, AZ, USA

These data were compiled for an assessment of rangeland ecosystem conditions of the Grand Canyon - Parashant National Monument. The approximately one-million-acre Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument (PARA) is located in the northwest corner of Arizona and co-managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and National Park Service (NPS). This report is focused on the ca. 200,000...

Channel Mapping of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, May 2012, river miles 29 to 62 - Data Channel Mapping of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, May 2012, river miles 29 to 62 - Data

Bathymetric, topographic, and grain-size data were collected in May 2012 along a 33-mi reach of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. The study reach is located from river miles 29 to 62 at the confluence of the Colorado and Little Colorado Rivers. Channel bathymetry was mapped using multibeam and singlebeam echosounders, subaerial topography was mapped using ground...

Discrete water-quality data for the Kansas River and tributaries, July 2012 - September 2016 Discrete water-quality data for the Kansas River and tributaries, July 2012 - September 2016

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides discrete water-quality data collected from four sites on the Kansas River and four of its tributaries during July 2012 through September 2016. The water-quality constituents included in this data release are the cyanotoxins microcystin and cylindrospermopsin, the taste-and-odor compounds geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol, major ions...

Peak-flow frequency analyses for 99 selected streamgages in or near Montana, based on data through water year 2015 (ver. 1.1, August 2020) Peak-flow frequency analyses for 99 selected streamgages in or near Montana, based on data through water year 2015 (ver. 1.1, August 2020)

The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WYMT WSC) recently completed a report documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines. The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for selected streamgages...

Influence of demand and capacity in transportation simulations of short-notice, distant-tsunami evacuations Influence of demand and capacity in transportation simulations of short-notice, distant-tsunami evacuations

Distant tsunamis require short-notice evacuations in coastal communities to minimize threats to life safety. Given the available time to evacuate and potential distances out of hazard zones, coastal transportation planners and emergency managers can expect large proportions of populations to evacuate using vehicles. A community-wide, short-notice, distant-tsunami evacuation is...

Oceanographic Observations Made Near South Padre Island, Texas, as Part of the South Padre Island Beach Replenishment Study, August 2018-February 2019 Oceanographic Observations Made Near South Padre Island, Texas, as Part of the South Padre Island Beach Replenishment Study, August 2018-February 2019

Beaches and water recreation are important to the South Padre Island, Texas area and across the United States. The movement of sediment in channels along beaches and the nearshore environment is important for coastal stakeholders and resource managers. Sediment removed by maintenance dredging is often placed back into the littoral system for potential beach replenishment. The movement of...

Tungsten Deposits in the United States (ver. 2.0, August 2020) Tungsten Deposits in the United States (ver. 2.0, August 2020)

This is version 2.0 of Tungsten Deposits in the United States. This data release provides the descriptions of approximately 100 U.S. sites that include mineral regions, mineral occurrences (deposits), and mine features that contain enrichments of tungsten (W). This data release reports on U.S. mines and deposits with greater than or equal to 215 metric tons of tungsten metal (30,000...

Data release for Linking land and sea through an ecological-economic model of coral reef recreation Data release for Linking land and sea through an ecological-economic model of coral reef recreation

Coastal zones are popular recreational areas that substantially contribute to social welfare. Managers can use information about specific environmental features that people appreciate, and how these might change under different management scenarios, to spatially target actions to areas of high current or potential value. We explored how snorkelers' experience would be affected by...

Topobathymetric elevation models of the upper Delaware River, USA - Version 1 - 10km tiles Topobathymetric elevation models of the upper Delaware River, USA - Version 1 - 10km tiles

This dataset includes topographic elevations (in meters) surrounding and bathymetric elevations within the upper Delaware River (USA). Bathymetric lidar data was acquired using the Experimental Advanced Airborne Research Lidar, version B. The EAARL-B is a successor instrument to the original EAARL bathymetric LiDAR sensor developed for mapping coral reef environments in clear water, but

Low-Temperature Thermochronometric Data from the Revelation Mountains, Western Alaska Range, 2013-2018 Low-Temperature Thermochronometric Data from the Revelation Mountains, Western Alaska Range, 2013-2018

This dataset provides low-temperature thermochronometric data from 16 rock samples collected from the Revelation Mountains area in western Alaska Range. These data are from three different analyses used to estimate cooling ages: 1) apatite (U-Th)/He, 2) zircon (U-Th)/He, and 3) apatite fission-track.

Data set for an ecological risk assessment of Firpronil compounds in US streams Data set for an ecological risk assessment of Firpronil compounds in US streams

The phenylpyrazole insecticide fipronil and its degradates are a potential surface-water contaminant and toxicant to nontarget species such as aquatic macroinvertebrates. To better understand how fipronil, fipronil sulfide, fipronil sulfone, desulfinyl fipronil, and fipronil amide affect aquatic communities, a 30-day mesocosm experiment was run. Rock trays were colonized with natural...

Short term soil carbon data and accretion rates from four marsh types in Mississippi River Delta collected in 2015 Short term soil carbon data and accretion rates from four marsh types in Mississippi River Delta collected in 2015

Short-term carbon accumulation rates were examined by collecting 10-cm deep soil cores at 24 sites located in marshes spanning the salinity gradient in coastal Louisiana. Percent moisture, bulk density, total carbon content, and the short-term accretion rates obtained with feldspar horizon markers were measured to determine total carbon accumulation and storage rates.
