This data release presents observations of vegetation and ground cover within Capulin and Frijoles canyon bottoms in the Jemez Mountains, including Bandelier National Monument, New Mexico. Methods...
Microbial concentrations derived from laboratory experiments with hemodialyzers performed in Marshfield, Wisconsin Microbial concentrations derived from laboratory experiments with hemodialyzers performed in Marshfield, Wisconsin
Laboratory experiments conducted in 2023 by the Laboratory for Infectious Disease and the Environment (LIDE) evaluated recovery of microorganisms by dead-end ultrafiltration using the Nipro Elisio™ hemodialyzer, with comparison to the Asahi Kasei Rexeed™ hemodialyzer. Experiments included 2 bacteria, 4 viruses, and 1 protozoan, including Campylobacter jejuni, Salmonella enterica serovar
Population Genetic Data of Breeding and Wintering King Eiders (Somateria spectabilis) Population Genetic Data of Breeding and Wintering King Eiders (Somateria spectabilis)
This data release includes one table of nuclear microsatellite genotypes and mitochondrial DNA haplotypes from the cytochrome b region in King Eider. This information was used to determine levels of population genetic differentiation among breeding and wintering sites of King Eiders (Somateria fischeri).
Saipan, data collected from visual surveys during a mock rapid response exercise, October 2023 Saipan, data collected from visual surveys during a mock rapid response exercise, October 2023
These data were created in October 2023 while completing nocturnal visual surveys for brown treesnakes (Boiga irregularis) as part of an early detection and rapid response training exercise. They contain data on counts of lizards, small mammals, and birds documented while completing surveys. There are no brown treesnake counts because no snakes were detected during the exercise.
Island of Hawai‘i, assessment of standing and felled ‘ōhi‘a trees infected with Ceratocystis wilt of ‘ōhi‘a, 2014 - 2021 Island of Hawai‘i, assessment of standing and felled ‘ōhi‘a trees infected with Ceratocystis wilt of ‘ōhi‘a, 2014 - 2021
Ceratocystis lukuohia is one of two fungal pathogens that causes Rapid ‘Ōhi‘a Death (ROD) in Hawaii. This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents the persistence of C. lukuohia in ‘ōhi‘a trees (Metrosideros polymorpha) that have died from the disease. Additionally, the data release documents the presence of active ambrosia beetle (Curculionidae, Xyleborini)...
Guam, USGS Closed Population data associated with lizard monitoring and reintroductions in and around USGS Closed Population, 2016 - 2022 Guam, USGS Closed Population data associated with lizard monitoring and reintroductions in and around USGS Closed Population, 2016 - 2022
We experimentally controlled brown treesnakes (Boiga irregularis) in a 5 ha study site on Guam and monitored extant lizards for a response to snake suppression. We then used functional response in extant lizards to snake suppression as a trigger to initiate reintroductions of three extirpated lizard species, with different activity patterns or microhabitat uses. These represent data from
Digital elevation model of the lava dome in the crater of Mount St. Helens, September 13, 1984 Digital elevation model of the lava dome in the crater of Mount St. Helens, September 13, 1984
The catastrophic, explosive eruption of Mount St. Helens, Washington, on May 18, 1980, is the most well-known eruption of the volcano. Less well known is that the May 18 eruption marked the beginning of a period of eruptive activity that lasted through 1986. Beginning in October 1980, a series of 17 dome-building episodes added millions of cubic meters of lava to the crater floor. Most...
Post-Wildfire Debris-Flow Hazard Assessment (PWFDF) Collection Post-Wildfire Debris-Flow Hazard Assessment (PWFDF) Collection
Wildfire can substantially alter the hydrologic response of watersheds to rainfall, and debris-flow activity is among the most destructive consequences of these events. To assist federal, state, and local agencies in planning for postfire hazards, the U.S. Geological Survey conducts debris-flow hazard assessments for recent wildfires. This collection contains the results of those...
Monthly NDVI and Pixel Reliability Scores for MODIS Imagery of 12 Months Prior and 12 Months Post Wildland Fire Event for the Islands of Guam, Yap and Palau from 2016 to 2020 Monthly NDVI and Pixel Reliability Scores for MODIS Imagery of 12 Months Prior and 12 Months Post Wildland Fire Event for the Islands of Guam, Yap and Palau from 2016 to 2020
These data provide monthly NDVI and pixel reliability values from MODIS imagery for 12-months prior to and 12-months following wildland fire occurrences on each island. Burned areas were derived from higher resolution imagery (eg. MAXAR) and burned pixels (250m resolution) were defined as those for which burned areas intersected with 25% or more of each MODIS pixel (indicated by...
Drought Time Series Based on the Standardized Precipitation Index for Guam from 1954 to 2022 and Koror from 1952 to 2019 Drought Time Series Based on the Standardized Precipitation Index for Guam from 1954 to 2022 and Koror from 1952 to 2019
This dataset contains an input of calculated average monthly rainfall values for Guam and drought time series data that covers two islands. The Guam drought time series is based on the standardized precipitation index (SPI) three-month intervals (SPI-3) and twelve-month intervals (SPI-12). Calculated from monthly rainfall values from 1954 through 2020 were produced for the whole land...
